Although I live in Ca, I was referred to Karen by a friend who lives in Syracuse. She recently gave me biofeedback all the way in California after a car accident. I can’t believe how quickly I recovered mentally and physically after the treatment. I wasn’t sure if I would feel it, but I definitely did. Highly recommend.

I had my first session with Terri this morning and cannot express how wonderful the experience was. I am familiar with reformer training, but Terri’s approach the teaching involves patience, motivation, humor, and an incredible depth of kindness. I feel that my session was an exchange of knowledge where I left with a better understanding of the movements, equipment, and my own body. I also found the facilities beautiful and accessible. I’m very excited to continue working with Terri and grow physically and mentally.

I cannot say about good things about Precision Pilates. My teenage daughter with scoliosis has been doing private sessions with the owner, Terri, for six months. In that short time my daughter has alleviated her chronic back pain, improved her posture and appearance, and amazingly even decreased her degree of spinal rotation. It is more than she has ever been able to achieve even in physical therapy. Terri researched her condition, studied her X-rays, and created a customized plan just for her. My daughter feels better not only physically but has grown in confidence and, even more, found a friend. She loves Terri and looks forward to every session with her. She leaves feeling rejuvenated in both body and mind. We are so lucky to have Precision Pilates right here in Syracuse. I would put them up against any Pilates studio anywhere!

Amazing value and really great selection! They had a good mix of older and more modern books, and most of the books were in like-new condition. I was able to get a signed hardcover for $10, and paperbacks typically range between 4 and 7 dollars. They also offer “blind date with a book,” where you can choose a mystery book based on a very vague synopsis. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great book store, big selection and very friendly staff.

Well organized used book store with great categorization. Easy to navigate and friendly staff with books all very reasonably priced.I personally tend to look for interesting books in different languages nowadays, and their section was great in that it wasn’t full of just dictionaries (as some used book stores are). Some very interesting finds. Even found a super rare copy of a highly acclaimed French book that was hand-bound. You can find some gems here.Worth the visit.

I’ve visited this used book store 3 times and plan on going again. It’s clean, well organized and has a great selection- I always come away with several finds. Staff are helpful and friendly.

With two used book stores across the street from each other it’s hard to chose a darling but each of them has their advantages.I am a former library person. Organization is my jam. Book Ends has that. I’m bad at wandering in book stores- I need a mission, and at Book Ends I can complete that mission with ease, finding my category, and quickly assessing if what I am seeking is there. Additionally they have an up to date website with most of their stock listed so you can pre-check their stock, or even buy online, provided it isn’t a mass market paperback. Book Ends pricing and selection are good. They also have this neat reward card where every time you buy $10 or more at their store you get a stamp, and after 10 stamps you receive $10 off.Every time I have been I find street parking easily. There is a bike rack across the street by the movie theatre. Book Ends is the bookstore I keep going back to.
Phoebe V. rated 5 stars on 9/2/2022
i love this place! they have a great selection of books and a surprising number of trendy of-the-moment darlings, which can be difficult for used bookstores even in much larger markets. all the books here are in very good physical condition – i have really high standards and books end meets them handily. it’s my favorite bookstore in syracuse!
J R. rated 3 stars on 10/12/2016
I enjoyed my visit here. They have a viable selection of used and new books that, while not exceedingly inexpensive, avoid the priciness of bigger stores. The items aren’t expertly organized, and it’s a bit of a maze trying to find a specific topic or genre, but for me at least that’s part of the draw of a used book store. You wander- and wander- and wander more. You browse, rather than seek something specific. Books End doesn’t have the selection of its nearest competitor, Books and Melodies, located right down the block. Books End is the more expensive place, but their books seem to be always, as a general rule, in like-new condition. It doesn’t seem like Books End accepts anything but titles in the highest-quality condition. There are no (or very few) $1-2 “steals” (ie. books that are in bad shape, folds, creases, marginations, etc.), but you’ll never be torn about whether to buy a book you like that’s in poor physical condition. Everything there is at least a “B” on a A-F scale. What I really like about this place is, despite their lack of crystal-clear organization, they certainly do a good job about labelling, especially because they have a pretty cool system for subgenres. For example, they have a memoir section, like any other store… but they also have, inside of that memoir section, a clearly-labelled “addition memoir” category that I found to be very helpful when searching for smaller topics within philosophy, my preferred genre. They’ve got a major politics/history section, and have a small-medium sized section dedicated to movies, television and other related merchandise. The people working here are friendly, and don’t hassle you if you’re just looking to browse in peace.
Naomi S. rated 4 stars on 7/14/2018
I came into Books End today and I definitely hit the jackpot with some doctor who books. I bought all the old paperback target books they had. The prices here are fair and I liked how it was laid out by genera then author rather than just by author like the store down the road. It was a bit of a maze but had a relaxing vibe.
Sarah O. rated 5 stars on 5/25/2016
Everything a used bookstore should be. Most of the time I find used book stores to be overfull with junk and picked over. Books end has a great selection of books and they seem picky about quality. I really like that I can search their stock on their website if I’m looking for something in particular, but if I just want to browse and see if anything piques my interest, it’s well organised and really has that bookstore feel to it.

So this isn’t going to be your average/usual Pure Barre review. I’m semi-disabled and won’t ever be taking a Pure Barre class, but my daughter-in-law is a regular. Our family tradition is giving socks for the holidays, and my son suggested I get Pure Barre socks for his wife. Lacking any other specifics (except I know she LOVES pink), I wandered into Pure Barre and was immediately greeted warmly. I was assisted in determining size and they searched for (and found!) the elusive pink ones I wanted. I was warmly invited to come for a class, and my decline to their offer was accepted politely. I can only imagine that their regulars are treated as awesome as I was!

I’ve been an exercise aficionado for nearly 20 years now – from step to kickball and everything in between. Barre none (pun intended!) Pure Barre is the best workout I’ve ever done. It hits every single muscle, and the emotional benefits are just as amazing. In terms of this studio, I’ve had nothing but positive encounters with every single instructor (all with their own unique style), and the vibe in the studio is extremely energizing. From the moment I walk in the door, I’m greeted with a smile, and feel as if I’m entering a party where I won’t have to be afraid to sit in the corner! I would definitely recommend Pure Barre – and this place in particular if you are close to CNY. It’s easy to get to, parking is ample, and it’s very convenient.

I have been to a couple different physical therapist after a knee injury I had about a year ago. This facility did a fantastic job helping me prepare for my surgery in time and helped me get back on my feet and running. I worked specifically with Kevin Brown. He was extremely educated and was able to explain to me what was going on with my knee at all points of my recovery. He was helpful, educated, and professional.

As a long distance runner, I was concerned about my achilles prior to a race. After five minutes with a very knowledgeable member of the team, I was not only in a position to better understand the tension in my ankle, but confident in my ability to race that weekend – and I’m glad I did, as I ended up setting a personal record! Clean facility, courteous staff and outstanding results.

After being prescribed for physical therapy, I chose Sports PT due to their close proximity to my home and gym. I called to establish myself as a new patient, and they were able to see me the very next day! I was treated for low-back pain and I believe I was given an effective and appropriate therapy regimen. I noticed relief after just a few sessions. I was always seen promptly after arrival and the entire staff was friendly and professional. I cannot express how thankful I am to have found them.
Tom B. rated 5 stars on 11/6/2015
Running and lifting weights are a big part of my life. Getting injured was very depressing for me, because I was no longer able to do those things. And, I was worried about my injury affecting my ability to work. Sports PT was the best thing for me. They were able to see me right away, and I didn’t have to miss work. The therapist who worked with me, Tim, was great. He was always very positive and friendly. I felt like although he may or may not participate in the same hobbies I do, he understood me, and that he genuinely cared that I got better. It was very helpful having someone who knew how to recover from this injury help me through it and teach me what I needed to know to not get injured again.

While staffed on a project in Syracuse for several months, I took pilates at CNY Fitness with Valerie Patrick. I can’t say enough great things about her. She is not only a wonderful instructor but a wonderful person as well! She’s so sweet and patient, and really takes the time to explain things and ensure proper form. Working out with her was challenging but also fun. I learned a lot from her and have a huge love for Pilates now thanks to her! My job no longer brings me to Syracuse so I am now on the hunt for a Pilates instructor in NYC as great as Val! I miss working out with her and highly recommend her if you’re in the Syracuse area and are interested in Pilates.

Val is the best! She knows just the right cues and goals to get you fit. On the mat, the barre, equipment or the reformer. Individual, semi private or classes sShe and her staff can help you get strong and fit.
Amanda W. rated 4 stars on 11/23/2015
I’ve been going here for about a month and I’ve been really happy with my experience. There is a variety of instructors teaching yoga, barre, Pilates, and fusions of them. In the classes you’ll find a mix of students in terms of ages and abilities so it never feels competitive or rushed. I’ve particularly liked the barre classes with both Tracy and Val – my quads are stronger already! The space is nice – well lit when needed and dimmed down for savasana. They have equipment like mats and blocks if you need them, and extras like water available if you need it. Val is ALWAYS smiling and reminds you to smile when you’re in the most difficult of poses – which I’ve got to admit makes it more tolerable!!!
Shawne S. rated 5 stars on 2/19/2021
With COVID, there is no shortage of streaming pilates classes and private teachers out there. You could probably access a teacher anywhere in the world if you wanted. I would still say Valerie is probably one of the best you will find. I started doing private zoom lessons with her on my reformer and on the mat a few months into COVID lockdown and I haven’t looked back. She has an amazing eye and can notice small imbalances – that you’re putting more weight on one leg than another, that maybe your foot position on the football isn’t exactly correct – even over zoom. Her attention to all these seemingly minor details and her ability to help me correct them even when she can’t put her hands on to make a physical correction has taken my pilates workout (and my daily life activities) to the next level. I really value the way she stays focused and attentive through the whole lesson. There may be some chatting at the beginning, but once you’re working, you are going to work hard. I highly recommend Valerie at Core Pilates & Yoga.

My gym in California costs less to sign up for, about the same price, yet it’s twenty times the size and with a steam room that is large enough for more than two people- in a place where the real estate is ten times more expensive. The trainers and staff are stupid and rude and 1/3 of the upstairs is for trainers only. I honestly don’t get it… How is this place so well reviewed? They’re not even open Sundays or full days on Saturday… nope.

Love this gym. For starters, the staff are very friendly. You’ll always feel welcomed here. There are many different classes to take advantage of. The locker rooms are very comfortable and clean. This place can quickly start to feel like a second home for folks who like to work out in a small, non-judgmental, nice environment. This is not a “warehouse style” gym.

I have been going to Metro for more than two years. It is a very good health club. I have had one on one sessions for Pilates and the trainer is excellent. The really good thing that they do is that they give you a measurement when you join up so you can measure your progress. I was able to show that I couldn’t touch my toes when I started and within six months, was able to touch them and not have that constant “crack” when I picked up a pen off of the floor. The equipment has come a long way, and the expansion has really given the place room to do what you need in a gym.Overall, I would recommend Metro if you have the means to join. My only gripe is that it is expensive to join.

Classic CNY slip / fall on ice… I broke my arm and sprained my wrist and hand. I felt pushed through the system by the orthopedic I saw post break and decided not to use their therapy services. I am so happy I choose Physical Therapy Plus instead! Kevin and team made me feel like part of their family. I was greeted by name by the receptionist everytime upon arrival and she was warm and friendly when I left, the entire staff pitched in and assisted. I am sure Kevin blocks out more time than normal per patient because I truly felt like he listened to my concerns and helped me gain strength, flexibility, and manage the pain during the healing process.

Great Location. This bookstore has been at this location for over 30 years. John is a very friendly owner, Fair and reasonable on his prices. He is also very generous with the price he will pay for books at his store. It always has a great vibe and atmosphere. The place is HUGE, and sadly he needs more space! I LIVE ABOVE This bookstore in the Apartment building so it’s very convenient! Great selection for a Used bookstore!

Overall, they have a very large selection and are pretty well organized.I personally like to peruse the foreign language sections for interesting books that aren’t in English or language reference books. They had a massive language selection compared to several other used book stores in the CNY area, so I found a lot of great books. The cashier was even nice enough to give me a discount on one of my more expensive picks since I bought quite a few. However, they did not take the care to organize the books in other languages into which language it was (the language reference books are categorized into language but not the books in the languages themselves). So I had to read the spines of all of the books on that shelf to pick out languages I wanted, rather than being able to quickly scan through the German section or the Spanish section. Organization is key in used book stores since what you’ll find is a toss up, so they could really stand to improve a bit there because it’s already a pretty time consuming experience as is.I was a bit confused at some of the organization. It seems like they have much older books and special discounts downstairs because you would see signs saying, “more downstairs”. Which makes sense that they’d want the new stuff in view, but was slightly confusing at first.I will definitely come back again!

You’ll need some time to go through the entire store. Interesting selection of used books but not always easy to find the right section. HUGE selection of used vinyl records down in the basement.

We love this place. It’s the perfect used book and records store and packed with good stuff–we even got a board game there on our last visit, when we also traded in about $70 worth of store credit in books and records since I was moving apartments. I’ve found books there that were on my list for a long time, plus new ones that I hadn’t considered but that I greatly enjoyed. The cat that inhabits the store is a bonus.

Awesome place in Syracuse, tons of records especially in the basement. Definitely a place to checkout if you’re into older music

My experience here was exceedingly enjoyable. THEY HAVE A CAT.(He’s/she’s unobtrusive, and I’m actually somewhat allergic and had zero issues here). Anyways, for a used book store, they truly have an enormous selection of items available. Everything in print: fiction, memoir, non-fic, children’s, audio, graphic novels/anime, sci-fi, fantasy, new/old, classics, poetry, etc. Great selection of vinyl as well. The regulars and some new releases, and some hidden gems if you’re willing to dig for them. It’s worth your time to stop in, music lovers. They have comfortable chairs and desks to hang out at as well. It’s a bit awkward, though, just a bit different from a cafe where you buy a cheap drink to sit for an hour or two. I think of it as more of a quiet reading area, especially because of the bag policy. More on that..Their bag policy is sort of annoying, of course. I suppose these things are necessary, but still a bit ridiculous for a regular customer, especially considering their awesome seating area options.Their prices are surprisingly inexpensive with some major steals available in the $2-5 range (!!!). Definitely a larger and more diverse selection than their closest competitor, Book Ends, right down the block. I would suggest checking out both. A really interesting guy helped me find what I was looking for. They’re laid-back and like conversation about literature, music and art. I appreciate that. Will definitely keep going back. It’s cozy and comfortable. Beware the hours.

One of my favorite places in the world. If you’re visiting Syracuse, this is a place you must visit. The atmosphere, from the unique choice in music to the slightly crisp scent of the large collection of used books to the sociable and obliging staff, this is the epitome of what a used bookstore should be. Love this place.

I love all the books in this place! The selection is amazing and the atmosphere is just perfect. When you walk in you instantly feel at home and you just know you will leave with a book in your hands!

What a great store. I was visiting from out of town and while I could only spend a few minutes there I was very impressed. The store is huge and has a great selection, and the books were in excellent condition and reasonably priced. I hope I get to visit again sometime.
