This place is outstanding- modern facilities, knowledgeable and dedicated staff, and personalized care.I am so lucky I found Ledesma Sports Medicine for my physical therapy (total knee replacement). The owner Ernie takes pride in his teams dedication and commitment to each patients recovery- making himself available whenever a question arises (even offering to be available for out of hours consultation). Ernie works closely with my surgeon- both closely monitoring my progress.Because of Ernie and his team I am ahead of schedule towards recovery from my recent knee replacement surgery.

Ernie Ledesma is an outstanding physical therapist. I had been going to another PT center here in Savannah and had reached a standstill in my progress. When I spoke to my surgeon about being frustrated, he sent me to Ernie. Ernie listened to my concerns and really helped me reach the breakthroughs I needed to improve my knee function. He is kind, patient and very encouraging. He will also give you the gentle push you may need from time to time to move forward in your recovery. I have been to two other PT centers here in Savannah and Ernie and his staff are hands down the absolute best.

I can’t say enough about the staff and amazing quality of care I’ve received over the past several months. I came in to heal from a herniated disc and am so happy I did. Tony (the spine guy) and his aides (especially Michelle!) are simply incredible. I know they all care about what they do–it is evident in their work and demeanor. I’ve only worked with Tony, but the rest of the staff always seems very qualified and friendly. If you’ve got back problems–definitely get an appointment with Tony. You’ll see results and know you’ve got the best help possible!

From my initial scheduling process with Jasmine to now several months of Sarah’s PT plan (I had a serious foot and ankle injury) they have been spectacular. I’ve gained back a surprising amount of range of motion given the injury, and regained the ability to walk with a normal-looking gait (it’ll never be actually normal again due to the realities of the injury). If you need PT in Savannah and are willing to put in work to get better, I highly recommend them.

I really cannot say enough good things about Sarah, Jasmine and my experience at Benchmark. I went in with hip pain that had been nagging me for months and came from a several year-old running injury. I was told by the doctor I could get a cortisone shot or try physical therapy and since I am not a fan of shots or temporary fix’s I opted for the physical therapy. Sarah was a lot of fun to work with and always seemed to have a great attitude about being at work. Jasmine was always a pleasure to speak to over the phone and in person setting up appointments. This was the first time I used physical therapy in a long time and I felt the facility was modern and had the equipment needed for me to work on improving my hip. While there Sarah also gave me some exercises to work on my lower back pain and was always very flexible on appointment times. In short, my injury got better and I had fun doing it. This location was also convenient to my house; I would recommend this Benchmark office to anyone needing these services. Also, to show the dedication Sarah has, she participated in a 10k race as a fund raiser as part of their corporate fundraising process (for American Heart Association if I recall). I would be remis if I did not mention that Sarah does dry needling, if you don’t know what that is be sure to ask her as she is happy to show you!

I had two emergency operations after severe dehydration caused me to become non-ambulatory… and was assigned Kindred Home Healthcare home nursing and physical therapy assistance afterward. Both providers were excellent. Good communications, flexibility where needed, and personal attention that went beyond the minimum to help me begin my recovery. I am now in my fourth week, and my recovery continues at a rapid pace…which I attribute largely to really good nursing and physical therapy assistance. In fact, the first visit by the PT NURSE just might have led in saving my life! She routinely checked blood pressure, and discovered it was precipitously low. She made sure, called the doctor, and that led to Emergency Room treatment that corrected an internal bleeding issue and allowed me to continue recovering. I have found Kindred HomeCare personnel –Erin, Angela (PT), Hannah and Jessica (nurses) to be professional, yet warm and friendly, and very effective. I commend them without reservation.Robert Welch

This review is for physical therapy. This is a large facility with a wide variety of weights and other equipment for therapy. Moreover, the physical therapists are knowledgeable and great to work with. You may wonder, then, why I’m only giving this facility a two-star review. It is because they are very crowded and over schedule their patients to the point where the professional therapists have two and three patients at a time and have to utilize students to assist them. In fact, they have students completely take over some of the sessions. It’s one thing to utilize students to assist the professionals; it is quite another to have them take charge of the patients. In fact, when I was being treated by a student with the professional nowhere in sight, the student had me perform an exercise that actually led to me injuring my “good” knee. I was being treated for a left knee injury (torn ACL) and now my right knee is giving me more difficulty than my left knee. The final straw came when I received a phone call from Optim the morning of one of my scheduled sessions informing me that my session would have to be cancelled because the student was out sick. Not the physical therapist, the student. It was at that point that I had my doctor reassign my sessions to a different organization.I like my doctor at Optim Orthopedics; however, I cannot in good conscience recommend the affiliated physical therapy organization. I suggest you make your own arrangements to get your P.T. somewhere else.

Without going into alot of detail, a month or so back I had a UTI. My primary care prescribed a medication that I discovered I was highly allergic too. My right hand already had carpel tunnel but overnight I went from ok to extreme pain. I read that the allergic reaction could cause permanent nerve damage. I decided to make an appt with DR Kolovich. Specifically asking for him as he performed carpel tunnel surgery on my left hand. Well the Dr’s PA showed up at the appt, not him. I was never told that the Dr could not make my appt. I was extremely upset but decided to see his PA as I was in a lot of pain. After the appt and still being quite upset I wrote a review. Mistakenly I called his PA and intern and I said is the dr out playing golf. I was upset to say the least. I since retracted the playing golf comment and changed the word on my review from intern to pA. While I have no doubt that kolovich is a good DR ., I had another appt with the PA. This time kolovich showed up. He berated me for at least a couple of minutes. Said I lied about an intern seeing me when it really was the PA. I told him I didn’t lie, just used the wrong term. He told me I lied at least 3 or 4 times. I was extremely upset with his tone and asked him at least twice if we could move on. As he was leaving the office he said, take the review down or find another DR. I realize DRs can pick and choose their patients and that’s fine. I have never in my life been berated by a professional and yes I have found another DR.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Jaakkola and his staff Bill and Brandon. My pain was severe in my ankle to the point that I was unable to walk. I was very scared to have surgery so Dr. Jaakkola tried every option possible to find relief to my problem. Surgery was inevitable but Dr. Jaakkola assured me I was in good hands. Surgeries were performed at the Optim Surgery Center in March/April. Both experiences at Optim Surgical Center were great. Their staff was professional and treated me with kindness. Before surgery, the anesthesiologists met with me to explain the procedures before inserting a nerve block. These were all new things to me and their attention definitely eased my anxiety. Dr. Jaakkola went over all the surgical information and what I should expect when I got home. He took the time to explain everything to my mom, who accompanied me to the surgical center. I had a reaction to the medication the day after the surgery and the on-call doctor called me within 10 minutes of me calling the emergency line. I was relieved to hear from someone so quickly at 2am.Before and after surgery, I had physical therapy at Optim in Pooler. All the PT personnel have taken great care of me to get me back to walking without pain. The PT team have great attitudes and genuinely care about their patients. I appreciate how they are concerned and push me a little past my comfort zone to strengthen my ankle. Big shout out to Dorey, Megan, Stephen and all the assistants. I am grateful to Optim and their staff of professionals who got me back to the old but better me!

My experience with optim orthopedics/ surgery/ Dr. Palmer.Last year I made an appointment at optim surgery to have a knee checked out that had been bothering me for some time. The doctor I met with assured me that he would help get my knee better. He had my knee x-rayed and said that I may need a whole knee replacement due to arthritis damage. So that doesn’t sound like fun, but whatever it takes to get this knee better. Next I went for an MRI and when I met with him to go over the results, he said I only needed a partial knee replacement, less invasive and a quicker recovery, so that’s great, sign me up. Then I had a pre-op appointment and he said that he changed his mind and only wants to go in and clean up my knee. That doesn’t make sense to me but he says he thinks he can make it better. I figured he is the expert and I decided to trust him. After surgery he tells me that my knee was much worse than he thought. Well the x-ray and MRI both said that it was bad, I have no idea why he thought he could clean that up. I now have to wear 2 knee braces on one knee just to get around and every step is painful. After healing up my knee was worse than it was before surgery and I’m told that I will need a replacement soon. I decided I’m not doing anything until I pay off the near $7000 in co-pays that I have from this botched surgery. After paying off over half this amount in 7 months I get a call from a collection company that says they now have my debt. I had just made a payment a couple of weeks earlier ($300) and knew this couldn’t be possible. When I called optim about this the girl says ” someone made a mistake, but we can’t do anything about it now”. If optim messes up your billing I promise you will not find anyone there to help you.I went to optim for help. They promised me help, they took my money, they made my knee worse than it was, but that wasn’t good enough for them, now they have to ruin my credit score as well. I consider they day I first walked into optim looking for help as one of the worse mistakes I’ve made in my life.-Nick Springer, Rincon, GA.

My wife needed to go for carpal tunnel surgery. Based on her outcome of getting full use of her hand again with little or no pain nor scarring, I would have rated them 5 stars. I reserve a star for the waiting period and pricing. They seem to like to make deals prior to the surgery and in our case offered a 20% discount on the estimate out of pocket expense if we paid up front. We did, but it didn’t include everything such as the doctor’s review and PT. What I learned is they charged us more than our out of pocket maximum which I’m hoping will lead to a refund once the insurance payments catch up. The other issue was the cancellation on the day of the surgery due to a Dr. emergency (that’s excusable). That was OK. When we finally went for the surgery, we were there for about 2-3 hours. The surgery itself took about 10 minutes. The nurses and staff were extremely apologetic for the delays and very nice throughout the process. I would consider the entire event as successful.

This 1 star review is towards a specific individual and that would be Dr. (if you can even call him that) Sammy S Sanders. I am upset because I got treated like garbage when I was up there earlier today. I had an appt this morning, showed up, and after getting an X-Ray done, the PA comes in. I have never seen this man nor met him in my entire life. The first words out of this man’s mouth are, “why do you have Medicare at 36?! What is so wrong with you that you would need Medicare?”I was astounded, it totally caught me off guard. So I told him, “I am 100% Permanent & Total Disabled Veteran and I was medically retired out of the Army in 2013.” He then says, “that doesn’t answer my question, what does having Medicare have to do with that?” I am looking at him like he is the biggest moron in the world. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that if one government agency finds you to be 100% disabled it holds a lot of weight with another one finding you disabled. So I started going into my injuries while I was in hoping that would make more sense to him. Told him about my Lateral Meniscus Tear that I had in my left knee in 2012 and how I had to have surgery on it at Winn Army Hospital when I was in the Army. He looks at me all smug and says, “a Lateral Meniscus Tear? That is nothing, they did a scope on my knee and I was up and back to work within a week! That wouldn’t cause you to be disabled nor would it cause any of the other issues you claim to have.”So I now am getting extremely angry because I am basically being accused of faking my injuries to sponge off the government. He my as well have said, “you are a filthy low-life deadbeat who is nothing but a welfare king and has an entitlement mindset, how dare you have Medicare at age 36, that is totally unheard of.” Maybe he didn’t say it like that, but the implication is there. So then he wants to go on about medications, he doesn’t have any of my records, totally unprepared, saying something about they are over on some other part of the system. Ok, I get it, technology can be difficult, but he had nothing on me except for a piece of paper that said I was a 36 year old with Medicare and as Tricare Prime as my secondary (because I am medically retired, I keep my Tricare benefits for the rest of my life). He sees I am on Norco for Chronic Pain. He then says, “why are you on Norco?” I tell him, “because I am in severe chronic pain and I need it at least once per week to function.”So then he says, “well if that is what your doctor and you have arranged, that is perfectly fine (yeah it is, you have no say in it!) but I would never prescribe Opioids to any of my patients.” Going on about how it is dangerous. All medications are dangerous and have side effects. If you are not abusing it and you take it as prescribed (I make a 1 month supply last on average of 3 months) it is fine. It is not my fault you got people overdosing on it.So what I am going to say is this. I don’t know about the other doctors, it is not my place to rate them, it is not my place to say anything negative nor positive, this is aimed directly at Sanders. If this is how one of your doctors are going to treat 100% P&T military veterans who swore an oath to protect idiots like you, than I don’t want to have anything to do with Optim. This is uncalled for, it was unnecessary, and it was unprofessional.I have been treated by some of the most abrasive and rude doctors when I was in the Army and none of them were that much of an a**hole. You want to get hung up on Medicare huh? Many people have Medicare that are far younger than me and don’t have nearly as much wrong with them. The reason I am complaining is because I don’t want this man to ever be able to treat another Veteran let alone regular patient when he thinks so lowly of any of us who may have to be on some sort of government/social program. I was going to let it go, but I just can’t. I am going to report this awful experience everywhere and hopefully he is fully reprimanded.

Eclectic bookstore with a small selection of rare books. They have a lot of older publications and those they are slightly used. Only issue is I took a picture of a newer book I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger on and a manger/owner/employee stopped and aggressively asked me why I was taking the picture. I said excuse me and he asked again why the picture. The employee/owner is clearly worried about losing business to Amazon or Barnes n noble. If you can avoid speaking to him it’s worth a stop for that old book smell alone.I purchased an older hardcover novel for $12. Great deals to be found

While we were out, exploring the city, we stumble across this little book shop. It’s very quaint and stacked wall-to-wall shelf shelf with books. While it is semi-organized, and there are areas for one to sit to read, we did find that it was just a little bit too small for our liking, and a little hard to maneuver around due to their being so many books. There is a mix of both used and new books that the customer can look through
MJ H. rated 4 stars on 10/19/2023
There did seem to be a huge selection of books, just nothing I was really perusing for. The only reason for four stars instead of 5 is for the service. A man had come in and the guy working just seemed to be a bit rude towards him. Granted, the customer was an old man and was just trying to banter a bit, but he was just kind of dismissing him. I work in the service industry, and that’s just a turn off for me, even though it wasn’t me. Definitely check it out for yourself. They seemed to have a lot of history and biographical books along with some more older selections.

The male employee who is consistently there, who I presume to be the owner, is quite rude and patronizing. I’ve been multiple times, and both my girlfriend and I picked up on his hostile and rude attitude. As someone who works in the service industry, I would never treat another person with that level of disrespect. Save yourself the trouble and go to E. Shaver Booksellers down the street.

I was about to buy Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential here and was looking at the mystery section when an employee, or possibly the owner, hit me in the back with a doorknob when she opened up the door. She just kept on walking. No apology or anything. Needless to say I took my business down the road to the Shaver bookstore with the cats. They were much nicer.

The Book Lady Bookstore is one of those classic shops that is floor to ceiling books. It’s like the fever dream of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I loved the eclectic arrangement of books, the intimacy of the corridors, and the vibe of this local treasure. If anything it was a bit cramped, but overall charming and if I lived in Savannah I’m pretty sure this would be part of my usual rotation, especially when shopping for a gift.

I have been going to physical therapy all my life, and after recently moving to Savannah, was sent by my doctor to Cora. I can honestly say that this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a PT office–by a lot. Stay away. Terrible place. Wish I could get my co-pay back.

I had a tarot reading with Gail last night and I really enjoyed it! She is so sweet and intuitive. I was shocked by tarot cards and how accurate they were. I walked away feeling like I needed to spend more time with her. She knows things!

Reverend Gail Hicks is truly passionate about helping others, and she calls on her extensive training, her guides and her innate intuition in order to do so. She also customizes each session to each individual to ensure that you are completely comfortable. I was very lucky to receive a soul healing from her, helping me to release some much needed blockages. I truly felt like I was in good hands, and would highly recommend Gail and her services. As a fellow healing arts practitioner, I can tell that Gail is the real deal.

I thoroughly enjoyed my reading from Gail. She was so kind, warm, and easy to talk to and I understood everything she was relating to me! I knew exactly what she was saying before she finished her sentence. The accuracy for me was SPOT ON! And this was over the phone, last minute! She was so kind to make time for me for a quick session as soon as I called her. She normally prepares for 30 minutes before a reading, but did not with me and still had mind-blowing accuracy. Also, another important factor is the way she delivers messages- while she doesn’t sugarcoat anything, she still is able to convey it in a very therapeutic way, leaving you feeling much lighter and happier after speaking with her. She truly is such a lovely person. I enjoyed every minute of it. Will use her again!

It’s been ages, when I and my [then] husband was still living on the east coast, when I had gone in to see Gail. The spouse had been experiencing chronic panic attacks that were debilitating and not responding to medical attention. Not only was Gail our last resort, she was also the answer to our prayers. The result was immediate! His panic attacks started abating and becoming less and less frequent, until they stopped altogether.Having been suitably impressed, I scheduled a Tarot consultation with Gail. She asked me to write down 8 to 12 questions on a piece of paper. I did that, and then put that paper in a sealed envelope. Mind you, I’m one of those people who has extremely high shields — so high that there’s been no psychic who’s been able to penetrate those shields. But not Gail! She took my sealed envelope, and without even opening it, she proceeded to address the questions that I had written down! This is no parlor trick! Gail is the real deal!

Gail provides great services. I have taken part in her 3rd eye awaken event and it’s an experience like never before. The iconic foot bath is great and freshing. Your feet feel smooth like a babies bottom!

We had suffered a recent tragedy and so my family and I came to this reading with high hopes of connecting with our departed loved ones.In terms of strictly psychic ability Gail was a disappointment. She kept asking us questions… I read somewhere you shouldn’t ‘feed the psychic’ and was trying not to do that, but she was struggling to get anything to the point where I started to feel bad for her. Our questions were folded up on small pieces of papers and I noticed she unfolded them and it looked like she was peeking at them. As her website says she works via psychometry and doesn’t read the questions I asked her about that… and that might have thrown her off. The same with the photos. They were in sealed envelopes and she opened them to look at them. But most of the time when she asked a question we had to say ‘no’ as she was on the wrong track. At one point she heard one departed loved one give a message to a loved one physically present at the reading. However she quoted him calling her by her proper name and he never used her proper name… he always referred to her by his pet name for her. Some of the other things she said about our departed loved one also didn’t sound like him. There was not a single thing we could point to and say, there is no way she could have known that… other than psychically of course.I give Rev. Gail two stars (as opposed to only one) for several reasons. First, I am convinced that she was really trying hard and desperately wanted to help us. I do believe that she has abilities, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they can always be turned on or off like a faucet. She just didn’t have it that day. Another thing is that she went about 40 minutes beyond our allocated hour. Most of this was spent telling us inspiring anecdotes and sharing her wisdom about life, death and the other side. She laughed with us and literally cried with us. There was a somewhat healing grief counseling element in that last 40 minutes, but we left mostly disappointed that no unmistakable hits had come through to prove to us that our departed loved ones are well and were there in that room communicating with us through her.

Gail Hicks is an amazing spiritual medium and healer. She worked with me by doing a soul healing.Gail helped me release what did not serve me and bring in what I do want. The process is fascinating and effective. Her true gift is that she can “see the blocks”, remove them and bring in an infusion of new clear energy. Within one week I saw result of opportunities in my work and expanded contacts. Within two weeks, I was offered an amazing opportunity. I was also able to release the energy of people in my life who were not serving my highest good.Gail loves what she does, loves the people she works with, and spreads love in the process. She has my highest recommendation.Patricia

I love Bikram Yoga on Habersham sooo much! When the foot takes its first step in the room, the heat is slightly intimidating, but that’s only because it takes a few classes for the body to become used to it. After a while, your body craves getting in the hot room and sweating out all the stress. Coming here has become a haven for me. Just like a massage, when I finish my yoga routine it feels like I go through the rest of my day with a whole new body and mind! The instructors are also amazing….It’s like having a coach with you along the way. They are very grounded in their own practice and have really brought me so much support and encouragement through my own journey. I’m hooked on Bikram!

I enjoy my time at the Hub!!!!! I just completed the 30-day trial for $69. I appreciate the variety of classes they offer. Barre by far has been my favorite. Pilates is tough but if you keep at it it’s extremely valuable. I wish I could have done more yoga here, but the times didn’t align with my schedule. Even the core workouts were just what I needed. The location is convenient with an abundance of parking. They have clean bathrooms and changing areas they also offer health food and beverages.

Recently, I moved to Savannah and visited the Hub to inquire about the classes and membership pricing. It was very apparent that the management was not interested in me joining the gym. I was looking to join a high-quality and high caliber gym. The Hub left a horrible first impression.1- When I arrived to the gym, I was not greeted or acknowledged, and had to interrupt the chatter amongst the employees.2- When the juice bar/front desk clerk finally acknowledged me. She told me that the manager was teacher a class. She didn’t offer to take my information and pass it along. When the manager finished the class, the juice bar/front desk clerk did not inform the manager that I was waiting. I had to go into the studio to find the manager.3- When I finally did get the opportunity to speak to the manager, she did not address my specific questions or concerns. Instead, she told me that everything is online and that I should look there. The questions that I asked were not addressed online and I told her this. She said that she would need to look up the information which is fine. She was not willing to even look up the information that I asked. It is very apparent and obvious that the Hub is not interested in my membership. I found everyone to be abrasive.

I took a barre class at The Hub during a girls getaway weekend in Savannah. When we arrived at the studio we were informed we needed a mat and it would be an $8.00 charge. Being from out of town, it was our first class ever at the studio, and not being informed we needed a class I thought that was a little much for a mat rental and thought they would wave the fee – but proceeded to pay for the charge. The following day my card was charged not $8.00 but $10.00. When I called the studio she told me they had to charge $10.00 as it was a minimum….they did say they would refund me my “$2.00” which I didn’t need. The studio should have made that more clear …. anyway just know if you go to this studio you have to bring a mat and it’s $10.00 + the cost of the class. Pretty expensive!
Katherine C. rated 2 stars on 8/10/2021
I tried to go here once but forgot my mat. They didn’t have rentals. I understood because of COVID rentals aren’t being done, so I asked if I could buy a mat from them. There were mats sitting in the little store area and they said no. I couldn’t participate in the class. They were at least nice enough to let me defer the cost of my class to another day. I came back for the class and it started off okay. The class was pretty crowded and I felt claustrophobic, I think maybe they should be limiting sizes a bit more. However my biggest issue was the heat. I’ve taken many bikram classes throughout my years, and I’ve never been unable to complete the class. The instructor cranked the heat at the start, and then I think forgot to check it/turn it back off, so the temp just kept climbing. It took one of the students going over to the thermostat and flagging that it was now 107 F in the room for the teacher to notice. Bikram should never get hotter than 105! People were dropping like flies! Multiple people left the room. Over half the class sat on their mats, unable to participate. A lot of the class got dizzy and nauseous. So unsafe!! The instructor apologized to a few of us after the class, but didn’t offer any refunds on the class, despite multiple people having to leave the room or unable to do the moves due to her making it way too hot. She got a little pushy that I come back since it’s usually not like this. In the locker room, one of the regulars told me that she often took the heat to the extreme and that I should come on other days instead if I wanted a more normal bikram experience. Unfortunately the days I could make it fall mostly on days that instructor teaches so I won’t be back. It’s way too expensive anyways!

Brutal. This place is expensive and their classes are NOT conducive to different experience/practice levels. During both one of the barre and yoga classes I found myself just doing my own flow. There was no respect for peoples time- as classes start late and end late. I sat in the front for a good amount of time waiting for my first class and no one greeted me or offered to show me around. Unfortunately, this wasn’t my only poor customer service experience. The attitude of entitlement some of the staff had was embarrassing. I would never recommend this place or return

I had a great green smoothie here today! I have never been in this place before, and didn’t even know they had smoothies, juices, and açaí bowls – yum! The smoothie was pretty good, and had coconut water in it which gave it a nice flavor. They also have yoga/Pilates/spin classes here but I came during the afternoon and it was pretty quiet and relaxing. A nice place to stop in for a refreshing drink!

I like to sweat and I love hot yoga. I simply cannot do plain, boring, room temperature yoga. I tried out the studio for a month, and I probably went 10 times. It was a bit of a drive for me. Because I was just trying out a new studio, I didn’t know anything about Bikram yoga. I learned that I still enjoy the hot temperature of the room, but I do not like Bikram yoga. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming to new members. The studio is impeccably clean, with showers and a changing area. It’s a carpet floor, for those of you trying to get a sense of the studio. Nothing bad about this place, only a good experience but not my mat o’ yoga.
