Synergy Injury Care is awesome! Unfortunately I was rear-ended a couple of years ago, and I had issues with my shoulder after the wreck. Synergy was able to get me feeling better with heat, massage, manual manipulation, and physical therapy exercise. And they even gave me exercises to continue at home, to ensure that if the pain came back I would be able to deal with it on my own. The location is very convenient, with plenty of parking. It’s very clean and well organized. They have any and all equipment a facility like this could ever need, and they offer so many options for treatment (some mentioned above), that no matter what your’e issue is I’m certain they can help! The staff really go above and beyond. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and they’re always willing to answer absolutely any questions you may have. If you’ve been injured, or if you’re struggling with any type of pain for any reason, I highly recommend you contact Synergy Injury Care. They’ll get you feeling better in no time!

I recently began going here after a car accident. I work with Keyon Thompson who is fantastic. He explains everything clearly and makes sure to not begin any exercises until inflammation and pain have gone done. He is qualified to use dry needling, electronic stimulation, ice, and other therapies. The entire staff appears to get along well and those at the desk are friendly and courteous. Keyon has even helped me with other problems he’s spotted. He also had me schedule appointments out several weeks in advance so that I can plan ahead. The clinic is clean and larger than it looks from the outside. I highly recommend this place. I do wish they had better pillows though. They are kind of flat. lol

After the 5th massage, I figured it was time for me to leave a message of some kind, to help other people who are out there looking for a QUALITY massage. Adriena is good (understatement) at what she does! The care that she takes when doing the massage, it’s very rare. There’s absolute healing energy in every stroke, and I get up feeling physically and mentally better then when I walked in. I recommend her highly! I have referred family and friends who feel the same — hooked after one session. Now, that says a lot!

Lauren has the most intuitive touch I’ve experienced with a massage therapist. I’ve seen many over 40 years all around the world. Prior to my appointment we spoke about some lifetime trouble areas. Once I was on the table and she went to work, all I can say is Lauren knows her way immediately to deeply troubled areas and was able to melt knots of pain away that have been a constant source of discomfort for me for years. I just moved to the Louisville area from Chicago and was petrified I would be unable to find a massage therapist. A little research brought me to High Vibe. Lauren’s capable, deeply caring and healing touch will keep me coming back. A very quiet, comfortable, clean zen like environment You will not be disappointed

What can I say, New Horizons/Jessica Farrel, PT DPT never gave up on me even when I wanted to give up! I had a total knee replacement in Jan 18 but my “bend” was not progressing to the extent/speed that I expected. Jessica mentally kept me in the game as well as physically; without her encouragement and kindness I easily could have slipped into depression. She pushed me hard and used various techniques including “dry needling” to get results; when progression stopped she realized I needed to see my physician and he had to manually manipulate my knee. It worked and she was able to finish my therapy. I’m thankful for her knowledge! The office is run by one of the most proficient assistants I’ve ever met, Brittany! She competently and cheerfully had all of my appts booked and all of my insurance paperwork completed accurately.I whole heartily recommend New Horizons and Jessica Farrel for all of your physical therapy needs. Stop by, they will cheerfully give you a tour as they did me when I was searching for a therapist before my surgery.

I can’t thank Verona, Natalie and Kirsten at Results Physiotherapy in St. Matthews enough for the work they put into getting my gluteus medius hip/IT muscle issue from an 8 pain to a 1 on the 0-10 scale. I usually went twice a week and was put through many different exercises to get my hip and leg working much better. Now I can lift my right leg into the 4-sitting position and step up into the SUV with ease. I’ve continued my exercises at home and the fitness center, and can tell the therapy really helped. Everyone is friendly, and fun here. I always looked forward to my sessions. Should I require any therapy going forward, it will be at this location.

My experience at Results Physiotherapy St. Matthews was excellent in every aspect. Kirstin worked on my injured ankle, provided thorough explanation of injury and treatment, and was exceptional getting me back to activity quickly. Kirstin, and all the staff, were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. It was the very best physical therapy experience I have had.

I came here on a referral from my ortho doctor. I was pleased they were able to get me in the day after I called. I met my physical therapist Lauren and a student resident. The exam was thorough and they both really took the time to ask me questions and exam be through different exercises and stretches. I completed the exercises they suggested and I also had dry needling done. I didn’t expect it to be like it was. The needle activated your muscles trigger points and loosens up the muscles. I was surprised by the muscle reactions to this needling. It was sore but I think it helped a lot. They gave me print outs of my at home exercises too.Very pleased, hope to have relief to Run again.

Had a fantastic first visit with Amanda at Results! My neck & shoulder have been hurting for quite some time & I finally got a referral from a trusted source for PT. The scheduling & pre-appointment paperwork process was very smooth, the team was welcoming upon arrival, & the covid precautions were top notch!I was impressed with her efficient diagnostic process, & felt empowered by her thorough explanations along the way. We did a series of exercises that she sent me instructions for doing at home, & completed the session with time in the TENS unit. When I left my neck & shoulder felt better than they have in ages. It’s definitely going to be a process, but I feel well underway!

About Carmichael’s Bookstore
Although both of our stores (1295 Bardstown Rd & 2720 Frankfort Ave) are small, they offer a hand-picked selection of titles reflecting both the taste of the owners and that of the neighborhoods they are a part of. From the very beginning Carmichael’s has been committed to being a neighborhood gathering place by being open seven days a week and every evening. Both stores are on corners that hum with activity – walkers, joggers, dogs and children, families and couples – lively streetscapes never darkened by the shadow of a big box store.
History: Carmichael’s Bookstore has been in business in Louisville for more than 30 years. It was started in April of 1978 by Carol Besse and Michael Boggs (the store name is a combination of their first names), and has been owned and operated by them ever since. It is a family business in the best tradition. As the business grew, so did the number of family members involved, and the staff now includes a second generation.

In the growing days of corporations I try my best to go out of my way and support local businesses. It isn’t always applicable, but that’s why I love Carmichael’s. I’ve shopped in person & online from them and love the ease of it.In person has the cozy small local bookshop vibes. It sports all your usual genre sections but also boasts plenty of reading related goodies. On my most recent trip they had candles, some labeled after books or authors. In addition to the goodies for us readers there is lots of paper products (paper? In a book store? Unthinkable, I know) including post cards, cards, journals, stationary, etc. I’ve brought a few out of town friends here and even if they don’t like reading they’re usually able to find a magnet or enjoy looking around.Online- online ordering is quiet simple, your standard of adding to cart, checking out etc. The thing I enjoyed was the email updates along the way. I had ordered a much smaller indie book and Carmichaels let me know how long their estimate was and kept me updated along the way.Overall- love Carmichaels and love how they interact with the community. Will continue coming & bringing friends.

Cute and cozy bookstore with nice selection and variety of genres. Will always support independent bookstores so the two times I’ve stopped by have always left with a book! Service was fine, the space is a bit on the smaller side and would benefit from a coffee shop and reading spots (in my opinion) so not a full 5 stars.
Blake M. rated 5 stars on 7/10/2023
This shop was the highlight of our trip to Louisville, a small local bookstore with such a wide selection that took the cake. The staff was friendly and welcoming, giving great recommendations for books, surprise grab bags for the book lover that can’t pick, queer books galore we could have stayed for hours. If you are in Louisville take the time and check this place out, it won’t disappoint
Maggie S. rated 5 stars on 4/7/2023
Cute & ideal local bookshop. The kind of small business every neighborhood should be lucky to have. Great selection of books and even a fun “blind date with a book” mystery book shelf where the books are wrapped up with a loosely detailed description of what type of read you’d be enjoying. Very fun and innovative.
Dustin H. rated 4 stars on 5/18/2022
Carmichael’s is a hometown locally owned bookstore. There are several in Louisville, I usually end up in at least one when I’m passing through the city. The prices are usually list-price, though bestsellers and new releases have a percentage off and there are some discount/on sell items. Though you won’t get a book as cheaply as you might on Amazon, you are supporting a much better company. Browsing here will likely expose you to books you’d never think to buy in the hunt and click world of online shopping as well, particularly since the staff recommendations (both listed and in conversation) are usually so detailed and intriguing.Brightly lit and friendly, a good place to support.
Brian A. rated 5 stars on 2/27/2021
I absolutely love books and even more so, being surrounded by timeless treasures of stories old and new. In my previous adventures along Bardstown Road there was a particular bookstore that always caught my eye and on this day I decided to stop by and check out Louisville’s oldest independent bookstore not only our of curiosity, but just to see what books may find their way into my own collection.Carmichael’s Bookstore does a great job of making sure it’s customers are safe an socially distanced during the pandemic by only limiting 10 customers at a time as well as ensuring all employees and customers are wearing a mask. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the staff and to my delight, found more books than I had hoped for, which is not at all a bad thing. Culture plays a significant role here at Carmichael’s and you’ll find every book and story that will tickle your fancy. I immediately spotted a little shelf that invited me to “go on a blind date with a book” of which the books were wrapped in brown paper with a genre as well as what to expect from the mystery book within. I made a purchase of a book featuring transgender and non-binary heroes as it was written on this paper featuring science fiction short stories of which I found very exciting and intriguing. Carmichael’s Bookstore does an excellent job of making everything very easy to find as well as being in a very proper order, so you shouldn’t have too hard of a time finding that next adventure or reading about an important figure in history. Off to the right side of their shop is a section with cookbooks, thank you notes and notecards all tucked away with various other literature items of all different varieties. Carmichael’s Bookstore is one bookstore in Louisville that I absolutely recommend any Bibliophile checks out whether you’re a local or just happen to be passing through and one that I most certainly will be coming back to again and again.

I have been to Carmichael’s many times and it is a great bookstore in the Louisville area. This holiday season I have used Carmichael’s to get many gifts on my holiday list. I have shopped in store and online. I have found their website easy to use. They communicate when the order is processed and when it arrives in store. When I’ve gone to pick up my order the staff is helpful. I asked about a purchase I was still waiting on and they were able to update me on its progress. They do have street parking available gor customers. There is also a litttle parking lot available a little further down the street that is free.

What an awesome local independent bookstore! Went here with my college roommate to pick up the Sunday edition of the New York Times. It’s such a large, beautifully curated bookstore and I loved all of their book related clothing. Picked up a cute “Bourbon and Books” t-shirt which I absolutely love. If you need to pick up a book, or a cute gift, I would head to Carmichael’s Bookstore.

Today I went into pick up a copy of Samantha Shannon’s latest, A Day of Fallen Night, and was psyched to find out that they had signed copies available! If you want to get to know the heart and soul of Louisville, I recommend Carmichael’s- it’s the essence of this city distilled.

TheraTree is a great place to work. We have some amazing therapist here, who really care about the kids that they serve. On top of that we have some really great mentors that are happy to teach those that are new to the field. Come join our team here at TheraTree.

Tonini’s is your go-to shop for church-inspired gifts and personal items, especially for Catholics. I recently visited to look for a baptism gift for my Godson. The store is large but the selection for a baby’s baptism is only a small portion. They offer baptism clothing, bib and sock sets, nightlights, stuffed animals, picture frames and room decor. I selected a small keepsake box with a child’s rosary. My favorite item to look at are the rosaries. I still can’t recite a Hail Mary correctly but love the beauty of the beads. Here you’ll find everything from a $1 plastic version to a sterling silver version that’s $100+. I am also intrigued by the many prayer cards and information about the saints. Tonini’s offers robes for priests, books, figurines (large and small), the nativity, home decor and jewelry. There’s so much in one space! I guarantee you’re going to find something new.

Customer service was excellent – friendly employees and very helpful. I needed to have a Bible engraved and they were so quick in getting it done. Also, they did an exceptional job!

They hit it out of the park every time we need a gift for a baptism, confirmation, first communion, and other religious needs. Everyone there is so courteous and polite. They go out of their way to physically show you where the requested item is and get it ready for checkout. I love this store!

An employee insulted me today while I was looking for a bracelet. I will not be back. I’m not plus-sized and no offense to those who are, but he said I didn’t look like someone who had tiny wrists. Note that I was wearing a heavy winter coat and my wrists were covered. ETA: I went to another store and they had to remove two links from the bracelet because my wrist is small. The Tonini employee just needs to watch what he assumes and says.

What a wonderful store! The sales girls were very knowledgeable and helpful–just ask and they do what they can to help!Could use more pre-Vatican II items, but their selection and expertise is MORE than sufficient. I’d recommend that anyone looking for Catholic goods or supplies pay these folks a visit!

This was our second visit to Tonini Church Supply & Co. Tonini is a very large store that carries several gift items, Rosaries, Sacramental gifts, Statues and Church supplies like the Monstrance and Reliquary. If you are looking for books, outfits for Baptism or other Sacraments, you will definitely find a wide selection at this store. The staff at the store are very helpful and will order items that you are looking for. The store carries Catholic books in Spanish, including the Spanish Bible (not the Douay Rheims Catholic translation). We were happy to find that one of the store staff was bilingual, who could speak in both Spanish and English. This is truly an asset to have, since there are many native Spanish speaking Catholics who need guidance when making purchases for spiritual reading, or items to purchase for Catholic events like Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage or a Funeral. This time around when browsing for books, we noticed that the store mostly carried a mixture of Protestant books and Conciliar (post-Vatican II doctrine) books. This can be very very confusing – check if the book has an imprimatur (only Catholic books have an imprimatur) or ask the store owner if the book is Catholic or not. However, most Conciliar books do not have an imprimatur (not very hard to guess why) and compared to traditional Catholic teachings, Conciliar books are written ambiguously and do not deepen one’s faith, and generally sound Protestant. For example, we were shocked to find the heretical Luther’s catechism right displayed right next to the post-Vatican II Conciliar catechism (published by USCCB). On the one hand it was not surprising to see this, but on the other hand, it was truly sad to see how far the Conciliar church has strayed away from traditional unchanging Catholic teachings and its effects on lay Catholics. It was also sad to find that the store’s selection of Catholic books (pre-Vatican II doctrine) had dwindled considerably since our previous visit. The store also has a sale selection for books. However all the books on sale were either protestant or Conciliar (post-Vatican II doctrine) books. The store also carries a few CDs on Gregorian chant, but the remainder is mostly protestant and Conciliar ‘worship’ music which is not edifying or pleasing to the ears or the soul. Their collection of statues, sacred images, Rosaries, etc. is very good. The staff was helpful, as before. Checkout was simple and straightforward.+ In JMJ +

If there is one aspect about life that I understand most, it is excruciating physical pain. It began as a toddler and never truly stopped. Sure, there were waves of peace. Typically, the peace would be interrupted by the car that struck the left side of my body and flipped me onto my neck. Or, the drunk driver that hit me head on. Maybe even the other three car wrecks I experienced. Not to mention two knee replacements. I’ve fallen from a second-floor building and tripped on my own feet too many times to count. When melanoma hit me in hair school… my 40-hour school week and 50-hour work week put me in a spin of daily episodes. But when you have learned to live with pain and watched your mother do the same, being alive and happy takes the edge away. Trust and belief that this would pass caused it to do so.Before any of these incidents fell onto my path… what some call auto-immune diseases tortured me on a day to day basis. Most of my body would feel as if knives were piercing my skin. The last 6 years have been free of this pain minus the times around my body experiencing trauma. I am happy to report that it is few and far between when an episode hits. Yesterday, was one of those days. My feet could barely touch the ground without a jerk reaction pulling my body off the breathing fire train I was strolling on. Now onto why I am sharing personal information I do not often toss around like salad… finding bodywork to zap stagnant fascia energy like a lightsaber has been the key for me since I was a little tater tot. For starters, if you too need a heavy release of fascia… Sarga will be your jam. It taps into the subtle body and asks the therapist to find listening ears/hands when healing the dormant energy. Today, I stepped off the massage table * for the first time in my adult life * completely worked out of every stabbing pain and screaming fire inside of my body. Thank you, Arielle. I still feel as if I am walking on water and flowing with the sea.

Wish I could give Arielle 6 stars. It was literally the most relaxing thing I’ve ever done in my life. I tried the Sarga massage. it was life changing. I feel like the weight of the world is lifted from my shoulders. My body feels great. So amazing. Can’t wait till my next one.

Life changing!!!I first met Arielle about 2 years ago, and I don’t think there has been a month since that I have not booked a session with her. I’ve suffered from chronic back and hip pain for the better part of 7 years, and after many different types of treatments and therapies (including massage) nothing has seemed to help much, so when I decided to try another massage therapist I was a bit hesitant. That all changed from the very second you meet her Arielle. From the moment she greets you until the moment you leave she makes you feel as if you’re the only person on the planet. Her attention to detail and her skill in her chosen profession are top notch! After just the first session I felt mentally and physically better than I had in years. Over the last two years her and I have tried many different types of massage depending on how my mind, body and stress levels are doing that week, she is skilled and amazing in all the work she does!! Some have worked better than others, but that doesn’t mean that anything I got was less than stellar! Recently we have started Sarga (ask her about it, it’s pretty amazing!) work on my body, I had two full weeks pain free after that session and I am looking forward to more of that work as she shapes and tones her skills! I would recommend Arielle to anyone and everyone! She truly is a master of her craft and is always learning new techniques to calm not just your body, but your mind and soul! I could go on and on but do yourself a favor and go experience her skills for yourself, you will not regret it! Oh! And if you’re lucky, you just may get to meet her trusty companion Pickle!

Wow! Just wow. Arielle cultivates a very inviting, relaxing and safe environment for you to walk into. From the moment I stepped foot into her space, it was evident that she had already worked hard to establish a comfortable space for me to rest lightly. She guaged intuitively how much pressure to use, and it was exactly what my body and mind needed. I could tell she definitely relieved some tension in my neck and shoulders, and emotionally it felt relieving as well. I would recommend to anyone as she moves with much intention and intuition and would be great for many different bodies looking for healing.

Arielle is one of the best masseuses in Kentucky. Her new work with Sarga has had more of a profound affect on me than ashiatsu, deep tissue or pressure points. If you want a great work, she is the person to go to.

Arielle is amazing! I had never experienced a massage before so I was so clueless and kind of nervous on what to expect. She made me feel so comfortable and answered all the questions I had for her. I stand on my feet all day at work so I’m usually pretty sore, since going to Arielle regularly I feel so much better physically and mentally! I would definitely recommend her if you’re just going to relax or going to work on specific areas of your body, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been a stylist for 8ish years so my body has taken a beating and I have tried to manage sore muscles with various things like massage many times. Like I’ve received probably a hundred massages. I’ve had some great ones and I’ve had some terrible ones. BUT nothing compares to the overall relief that Arielle has provided me. She has extensive knowledge and techniques to be able to do the absolute most customized massage. I felt heard, my body felt heard. I am seeing her again in a few days and I’m so ready!
