Called to make appt but places get booked in Bangor! Book ahead. Tricia was SO incredibly nice to help me find someone else who may be able to take me in! Highly recommend as she referred me because she cared about my well being and not just to get another client! I will have to book several weeks I think! Try Oasis of Serenity – will review later!

It’s Best Buy meets Barnes and Noble meets Game Stop meets thrift store. Imagine the best of all worlds and you have conjured up the essence of Bull Moose. For the board gamer in me they have quite an extent to offer. Especially the more difficult to find games like Harry Potter and Contagion. For the video gamer they have the full range of new and used items from PS4 all the way back to Atari, it’s pretty amazing. Not in to games? Well they have the most impressive collection of new and used dvds and bourses available. Used dvds and blues us can be had for as little as 97 cents. Good back even further in fact the have a limited selection of used VHS. No movies? Well they have a great book and comic section. New and used very affordable priced. Music too!! CDs to tapes to vinyl. New and used. Finally they have everything in between like Spencer’s for those of you old enough to remember. Toys and novelties. I can’t say enough to really compliment this store. The staff are top notch and it’s always got customer service to spare. Finally a media store that got it right. Well done Bull Moose

What a treat to find this little (or should I say BIG) gem. Full of new & used books, CDs, and even some LPs.My advice is to pace yourself as there is a lot to sift through. IF you are looking for something specific, they are pretty organized and kudos to them for that. Just want to look well you can do that and plan on being there a bit! That’s ok too.Super friendly staff, hidden finds you will stumble across (the entire Reno – 911 series for $22!) and other such goodies. It reminds me of a Goodwill store – the inventory changes so you need to come back on a regular basis if you are looking for something specific. The LP section was a bit thin but I am sure that expands and contracts as the inventory does.
Steven G. rated 4 stars on 7/21/2022
There was lots to look at. I went for vinyl (decent selection, not overwhelming, but still had to make a choice in the end) but still spent lots of time looking at all the stuff.
Cait B. rated 2 stars on 5/22/2019
Bull Moose might have been a record store many years ago, but it isn’t one now. They have a few small racks of records- if you’re lucky you can find some classic rock, some modern stars doing the obligatory vinyl releases (to sell the new Bluetooth record players, naturally!) and if you’re REALLY lucky you might find a couple Aphex Twin singles, going for $25 each. The CD selection is just as bad.I can tell you right now that the people who work here don’t care much about records or music and the people who come in here don’t either. The clientele are mostly dudebros who are there to get the latest game releases, or couples shopping for Funko Pop figurines. There is a very large section of used video games and used DVDs (selling for way too much- how do they expect to compete against torrents?). Bull Moose would most *generously* be called a ‘mainstream nerd paraphernalia store’. They sell a small handful of records, but it’s not a record store. You’d do better getting your records off eBay than messing around with their pitiful selection and astronomic prices.

Great used bookstore. On vacation and read through the ones I had. Prices are reasonably. Some books were a very good buy. Would of bought more, but had to limit myself. Wish I lived nearby.
Bocce G. rated 5 stars on 8/19/2015
Definitely go in here! It’s a small New England chain store similar to the Hastings store chain in the Midwest and south. I saw a wall of employee picks for music and book suggestions, and a ‘deep catalog’ of CDs and DVDs. I know most millennials don’t know the thrilling experience of rummaging around in a store like this, but us 80s babies still like it :). Oh and the prices are very reasonable, several items I looked at were the same price on Amazon.
Melodie C. rated 5 stars on 4/30/2014
Love love love Bull Moose! Wish there were more stores like this out there. You can sell back your old stuff — books, movies, video games….. Or you can go in and buy someone else’s old stuff. I’ve been lucky enough to find some DVDs in here that I’ve had a hard time finding elsewhere.Like “What a Girl Wants.” Don’t judge me.
Jonathan R. rated 5 stars on 1/2/2017
Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Bull Moose. It’s true that people are more inclined to talk about bad experiences rather than good, but sometimes one needs to remember to give praise where praise is due.I am new to Maine and had never heard of Bull Moose prior to moving here. I am so thankful for them. Living in a digital age as we are, some people are still interested in owning physical copies of CDs, movies & books. Obviously vinyl is huge again these days, as well as video games. But Bull Moose doesn’t stop there, they also carry old VHS & cassette tapes.I’m obsessed with the fact that they not only deal with used merchandise at EXCELLENT prices, but they’re right in line with new releases from mainstream to obscure. And the killer?… Their prices often beat Amazon.. and they price-match brick and mortar stores. You want something they don’t have?.. they’ll order it. You driving a long distance or don’t want to risk arriving to find out they’ve sold out of something?.. they’ll hold it. These may seem like basic things, but I encourage you to find other retailers doing the same these days.. slim pickings.Oh and then of course there’s their frequent buyer program card that gives you points for each purchase, resulting in future discounts. A program that shows they appreciate their customers.I’m a big fan of Bull Moose and I regularly share my enthusiasm with friends. So many businesses are out for a fast buck and take advantage of people these days. I’m glad to have found one that maintains integrity.
Ahmet B. rated 4 stars on 4/17/2010
Now that they’ve expanded, they’re selling books! Lots of CDs and DVDs and games, too, as always. They also have a very small record section, selling only new vinyl (which is usually very expensive). The selection of modern and current music is great, but for Lena Horne and other artists who are not so hip now, you might want to go somewhere else. Overall, it’s a great place for what’s happening NOW! I do hope, though, that with all their new and empty space they will have a big selection of used vinyl like the Portsmouth Bull Moose.
Allen E. rated 5 stars on 5/23/2016

How often is it that we get superb service when the company knows you won’t be back! That is what I experienced with Back in Balance Wellness Center in Bangor ME. We were at the end of an amazing three week trip to the east coast from California. I woke up on the next to the last day with a lower back pain. It really hurt and I had difficulty walking. I had called about acupuncture, but unfortunately timing wasn’t good. However, Sarah (sp.) offered a message. I wasn’t sure it would help, but it may feel good. I was way off: Gabriel, my message therapist, was fantastic. I had a 30 minute message the first day, and already it felt better. I was really lucky to get an hour with him the morning we were leaving…..What a miracle. He is so knowledgeable about back issues, I walked out of there much relieved. Wish I could transport him back home. To sum it up, these folks are not only highly skilled, they are very service oriented. If we get back to Bangor, I will be sure to visit them again with or without back pain. A highly skilled and professional company.

I was visiting family in the Bangor area for a month, and knew I’d be in desperate need of a chiropractor while in town for so long. A Yelp search lead me to Back in Balance, and I’m so grateful. The providers here a so good, that they are usually quite busy…But I always felt unique and well cared for. Dr. Dan was so awesome, I can’t say enough about what he’s done for me. I love who I see back home, but Dr. Dan saw some things that my guy missed, and I’ve seen some real progress in areas I’d given up on. I love that there’s a massage area upstairs, so you can have the soft tissue areas worked on a bit before you head downstairs for the “bone” work. I can’t say enough how great of an experience I’ve had here over the last month!

Wonderfully responsive to a email I sent on a whim for availability. Very accommodating! Space was very clean and well appointed with just the right mix of spa and alternative options like acupuncture. Massage was perfect and my masseuse was very in tune with what my problem area’s were. I will definitely come back again the next time I’m in the area!

After moving to Maine from PA, I needed to find a good chiropractor. I could not believe my luck when I found this place. I have never gone to a chiropractor that actually has an end date for weekly visits in mind. This place is just wonderful and I cannot recommend it enough!

I was never a chiropractor fan until I was told I needed foot surgery. I went to see Dr. Dan at Back in Balance for a second opinion. I am glad I did, he worked on my foot and no surgery plus the tune up is great. I now see him about every 6 months to tweak foot and get tuned up. Very happy with all of Back in Balance personnel and services. If you have any pain I would recommend a visit.

Transferred here in September when I came up to college. Recovering from ACL surgery from skiing, and my main goal was to get back to skiing as soon as possible. The therapy I have received from Saker and Dereck has been absolutely awesome. They have put me through a whole array of unique exercises weekly specifically focused around getting me back to skiing, and it is looking like thanks to them I will be back on the mountain only 6 months after having my ACL reconstructed. They also have let me go at my pace and push myself as much as I feel able to and they feel is safe, which has been great. On top of the therapy, everyone is extremely friendly and cool to be around which makes going to PT actually enjoyable. Definitely recommend this place for PT, they do great work and it has all around been an enjoyable experience working with them. Big thank you for all of the hard work and for getting me back to skiing in a crazy short amount of time!

I was passing through Bangor on a long road trip with my two chihuahuas- and needed a massage badly- but what to do about my dogs?!? Tried and failed to get an out-call to my room- but got a text back from heart and soul offering a session early the next morning and welcoming my pups to the space! AMAZING.I got a lot more than I bargained for- the Massage was absolutely phenomenal- and I am a seasoned massage snob- my therapist was amazingly educated, AND intuitive- she completely eliminated and relieved all of the trigger points that had begun to cause me severe low back discomfort from all the driving, by addressing areas I didn’t even realize were responsible. She was very kind, friendly, comfortable, and generous with her time… All while my dogs napped quietly in the corner of her spacious and beautiful office. And to top it all off, She charges HALF what I am accustomed to paying in Austin… amazing! If I was local to Bangor I would be a regular-

Highly recommend this therapist. I was visiting from Northern California and I think this is one of the best massages I ever had in my life. This therapist is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in numerous modalities. I believed she started with cranio-sacral on me (not sure), and she knew exactly where to apply pressure. This kind of changed my life as far as understanding massages. I came out on another level mentally and physically so much so that my husband said I looked like I ran a marathon. I’ve tried to look for another therapist similar to her background, skills and style in San Francisco but have had no luck. She is a gem and I wish I could have her in Northern California!

Suzanne was very good! I was in town for business and my body has been so tight and stiff from traveling. My mother is a massage therapist so I’m very particular. I was very pleased with the pressure, and I could feel her energy without her touching me. I was very relaxed, and so happy she could me with my pain. We also text back and forth, she was very prompt in her response. Suzanne was definitely a joy. I highly recommended her.
