Wow!! I’m seriously impressed by the results I’ve had here. I had a relatively minor and common injury to the knee that was enough to be debilitating. Unfortunately, the ortho was going to be booked out for more than a month!!! Very fortunately, I decided to start PT to hopefully get relief before my consult, now I’m almost 100% better in pain, range of motion from the manual therapy, exercises, and modified movements learned here.My therapist, Marco, is FANTASTIC!! He’s so knowledgeable and takes his time. Also, he’s a miracle worker!! I definitely felt like I had a new knee after the first visit and I am getting progressively better. Furthermore, they understand my goals of getting back to the gym and my normal fitness level and are progressing me toward that!!The front desk staff here is amazing – she was able to get me an appt within a few days of me calling. Also called me back ASAP on my insurance benefits. Super professional!!! Thank you guys so much for the ways you go above and beyond!!!Tips: parking in private lot around the building. They validate parking. They do not accept AMEX

I’m giving this location (200 N Glebe Road) one star based on the fact that it is NOT accessible for a disabled person! Some people in this world DO NOT HAVE CARS! No Uber driver is going to go into a PAY parking lot, and then wait while you go inside and get the parking ticket validated. Neither will a cab driver. Neither a cab driver nor an Uber is going to be able to find you in the free parking lot or somewhere in the rear of the building where there is supposedly is a ramp. (We did convince the Uber driver who took us there to drive around the building to see if there was an ADA compliant entrance. We did not see this SUPPOSED ramp.) My husband, who uses a walker, had to walk a fair distance to the side of the building to access a short flight of steps – WITH A WALKER. The steps in the front entrance of the building were longer. Thank goodness for a nice Uber driver who kept driving around trying to find the easiest way to get into the building. If we knew this was the situation we would never have booked an appointment there. What a ridiculous location for a P/T Rehab office. We had one interaction with the staff there and they were very nice.

There aren’t enough good things to say about Melissa. My injury continued to heal every day because she sure knows what she is doing. She is absolutely amazing and so caring for your health and well being. I had other health issues going on and she even reached out after my treatment to make sure I was doing okay. The rest of the staff is so welcoming and truly cares about you. Michael also had a positive impact on my experience after working with him for one day. I strongly recommend this PT business and recommend to anyone I know to go here.

While the therapists are friendly and helpful, the billing practice needs improvement. The front desk support staff looked up my insurance and I was quoted a rate per session. I relied on this information and paid this each time I went. Four months later, I received a bill for almost $3,000. I would have appreciated being notified upfront, or at least more timely, of the actual cost per session. It certainly would have changed my behavior and I would have chosen a different option for my physical therapy.

This place is just terrible, BEWARE of this PT place. You can find another place better than this. All these 5 Star ratings, I was surprised myself until I had actually made an appointment and it was totally the opposite of everyone’s experience, did I mention the management is terrible. Stay away.

It’s hard to find a good PT, but I’m so thankful to find Helene Strange and Source Physical Therapy near me! I came here after having lower back pain and my PA referred me here. Helene was very thorough in finding the root of the issue and teaching me exercise to build strength. The whole team was very welcoming and patient and even gave me a card when I graduated. Helene told me to reach out if I wanted the exercise handouts or needed anything in the future. They genuinely care about their patients and I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a PT.

Imagine walking around on a fractured fibula for over a year and being told you need to stretch. Following spine surgery in late 2017 I came in for physio. It went well for a time, then Cody left. I started to feel like I was wasting my time. Returned 3 months later with acute knee pain following a misstep and started treatment for a tight IT band. Cue the feeling that I was wasting my time. No real improvement in pain or mobility. No reason why a tight IT band would cause an acute injury or why my knee would be so hot to the touch that others could feel the heat through my jeans. Last week I ended up having knee surgery to repair a fracture that hadn’t healed in the 18 months since the injury occurred, and for which I was being treated for a tight IT band. And all the while I got the distinct impression they did not believe me when I complained about pain.

Source PT and Wellness is the best clinic I have ever worked in. The staff is made up of nothing but the best Physical Therapists in terms of skill and patient care as a whole. All treatments and evaluations are completely one-on-one to ensure the highest quality care. It is a wonderful place to work as an employee, as well as a wonderful place to get the care you need. I am sadly leaving SPTW to move out of state, but would have stayed many years if I stuck around the DMV area.

For over a decade I have had chronic neck and back pain. I’ve seen multiple physical therapists with very little results. After only a month with Dr. Laura Stewart, I have had an almost complete recovery. She is an expert in her field (especially with dry needling), friendly, and committed to my recovery. All of the staff at Source to include the front desk have also been excellent. Thank you!!!

I’ve been to a lot of physical therapists over the years, treating things from ankles to shoulders, post surgery or due to injury. I’ve probably seen 10 physical therapists over the last 20 years.I lead with that because I have never had a physical therapist as interested in getting me well as Liz with NRH in Ballston.I have been getting treatment for 5 months for vestibular rehab. While I have improved tremendously over that period, the most notable part to me is how the rehab has changed to adapt to where I am on any given day. There is no set schedule for what I do, but instead we spend the first few minutes of each session gauging where I am and what is appropriate to do to push or not push me on that day. This individualized care is wonderful and unique, in my experience. I fully recommend this place.

I would never be able to recommend this place! The front desk staff is amazing but the therapy is terrible! You book an hour time slot, the therapist I saw (Chris) was always 5-10 min late to start the session, as they bring you back they are still working with other patients, you normally sit around for a few minutes before anything gets going. The hands on portion might, to be generous, last 8 minutes. Then he had me do a few exercises in which he was never paying attention and always over talking to other therapist about life. With icing I had never spent more than 35 minutes in the office. For an hour appointment very minimal care, and no concern for my well-being I hope Medstar really dives into his charts to see how little he’s doing for patients and how far off doctors orders and general practices he is. I would never go back to this place and I hope this warning really helps others to steer clear of this place! It’s not worth wasting your time!

Strongly recommend the Arlington (Ballston/Marymount) location for Medstar Health Physical Therapy. I had total ankle replacement surgery performed in mid-February, and started my physical therapy sessions about 3 weeks later. My PT sessions alternated between Maggie and Kris twice a week until late May, when my visits tapered off to once a week until completion of my therapy in mid- to late-June. Both Maggie and Kris are consummate professionals, friendly and engaging but also acutely aware of what I could (and couldn’t do) at the various stages of my recovery. Without their help, I would not have recovered as quickly – and as strongly – as I did. They were very knowledgeable, while still being careful, about expanding my ankle’s range of motion and building its strength, which in turn gave me more confidence in the progress of my recovery. Because of their prudent treatment and careful prodding, I was starting neighborhood walks by late March, resumed bike riding in early May, and started hitting golf balls again in mid-May. By the end of May, I was taking 25 mile bike rides and playing 18 holes of golf – well ahead of my anticipated recovery schedule.I’m very grateful for their treatment and professionalism, as well as for the work of the staff at Medstar PT Arlington. My treatment overlapped with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the protocols at Medstar were very solid. I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of PT.

Saw Megan 2x week for several weeks to rehabilitate after a Jones fracture. She’s a Rock star. She knew what to do and explained why. The place gets pretty crowded around lunchtime and after work. I preferred the off hours. They recently opened a much needed room across the hall. There is free parking in the back.

I’ve been seeing Katie Rogowski for prehab before I go in for hip surgery and she’s been fantastic. (I was recommended to her by a friend who is a patient of hers as well.) Super knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and friendly. I’m much more confident going into my surgery having had Katie’s help and am planning on returning to her for post-surgery rehab. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great PT.

Lindsey Rolinski is a wonderful therapist. She helped me gain strength and get back to normal life. She is patient, kind and supportive. I highly recommend Lindsey for any physical therapy needs. The MedStar Rehab is clean, has workable hours and professional and accommodating staff.

Be warned! While the therapists are good, the billing is a nightmare! They placed me with a physician whose credentials had not been added to their contract with my insurance company (I can only imagine it’s because they can collect at a higher rate than as contracted). Then they bill me a YEAR later. When I called to get it cleared up MedStar, told me – YES! you’re right, you shouldn’t be receiving a bill, we’ll resubmit to your insurance company and send you an updated invoice. But then I received another invoice stating I still owe money. When I call again to inform them I’m still receiving this invoice MedStar (the same MedStar who says I don’t owe any money) tells me that they have sent it to collections! There is a complete lack of communication within their billing department and a complete lack of understanding how billing and insurance works on their part.

Honestly the best place there is for physical therapy. The staff is caring, patient, and thorough in evaluating and treating. I originally came prior to surgery as a last ditch before moving forward with the surgery to my knee. At that time, Tracy was my therapist and it was always a pleasure to interact with her. She made therapy fun but also rigorous with the goal of improving the condition I was in when I first entered. My knee made a lot of improvements but I decided to move forward with surgery. Fast forward to now and I am back. I made the mistake of going to another place and won’t make that mistake again. My therapist now is Carolyn and she is equally amazing! I don’t think I am supposed to have this much fun at a doctor’s appointment. She makes sure that my therapy is always increasing in the difficulty level but not in a way that will injure me. She always takes time ask how I am doing, if I am feeling comfortable with the exercises and of course demonstrates any new ones for me to make sure I can execute them safely both in the therapy office and at home. Unfortunately, due to the current situation in the world I am not able to go in the building but they do offer equally great services remotely. There are closer places to my home in DC that I could go to but I would come back here time and time again because everyone feels like family and they genuinely want you to be at 100% best.

After I broke my wrist, my surgeon STRONGLY SUGGESTED that I come to Medstar and see Allison, specifically (she’s now in the Lake Ridge location). He said she really makes a difference. He was so right! Less than 3 months after my surgery I have regained most of my strength and most of my range of motion back. It was so hard to imagine back when I could barely move without pain. Allison is phenomenal! I loved that she was willing to explain so much about what was happening with my injury and healing. She’s exceedingly pleasant but man will she stay on you! Do what she says, you’ll thank her later!

This is one of the many boutique workouts I’ve tried and I must say that I like it. It is challenging for sure but not as hard as I thought it was going to be!Our instructor Ivana was great and came around to correct our form. She motivated us and encouraged us. If it’s your first time, I highly recommend taking the beginner class because they go slow and it’s a bit confusing to where to go and what to do.most of the workout was definitely focused on the core area of your body. We did some Hungarian lunges which were challenging but good for your booty. I signed up through classpass and it cost about 10 credits. The downside is that classes are definitely expensive. However the studio is nice and clean, there are bathrooms, free towels to use, water fountain, cubbies for your stuff, mints, hair tie, etc. Some issues I had were:-it was hard to hear our instructor because the music is loud and the quality of the mic is not that great. I had to watch other people constantly and those people look confused as well.-we didn’t stretch at all after the class which I find to be a downside because I get really sore when I don’t stretch. In other class, we always spend a couple minutes stretching to recover muscles.-the door was confusing to open, even with the code. The just email you the code but not really any instructions on how it works.I found myself sweating a lot when we did the slow movements which is great! I burned about 480 calories in this class which is great. I will try to incorporate this workout once a week! But I would just have to stretch on my own after I guess

[Solidcore] is definitely one of the harder classes I’ve done. The workout is performed on the Pilates reformer, using slow and controlled resistance training. The instructor, Samantha, was friendly and encouraging. However, I felt like the music was too loud or her microphone wasn’t projecting as well, because I could not hear what she was saying most of the class! I was constantly looking at other people in class for the correct form and position…and it didn’t help that they were looking around as well. I’ve been to their location in Bethesda and didn’t have this problem, so it’s possible it’s just the layout of this studio. This studio has an open layout- the entrance, restroom and a hallway are right around the corner (vs. in Bethesda there’s a door to close the room off) and that could’ve contributed to the sound projection. There was also no warm-up or stretching during the class. I guess that’s something you have to do yourself before and after…{Parking}: there’s the Ballston garage across the street for $1 or you can find metered street parking a couple streets downFYI: classes are $37 during their peak hours and $27 during the off-peak hours. I definitely recommend [solidcore] but after a while, it’ll put a dent in your wallet.

Third reviews the charm! This place recently renovated so the issue of sunlight beaming in is gone; also seems like acoustics have gotten better as well as it’s not quite as loud as before. I love taking classes with Dani, David, or May and their instruction is awesome and vibes are great. Still one of the most challenging classes I’ve taken to date and I love the soreness that lingers days after. They got nice new lockers too!
Laura L. rated 2 stars on 11/2/2018
I bought a ClassPass to give [solidcore] a try after hearing all the hype, but after two classes I was left feeling disappointed for a couple reasons. The workouts are definitely challenging and left me sore for days, but both times I struggled to understand the directions because of how muffled the sound was so I just followed along with the experienced person next to me. The first time I took the class with Ivana I thought she was nice and helpful enough, so I decided to drop in a second time. Unfortunately, May was the instructor that day and did not seem at all interested after telling her I was new. She corrected me a few times, but in a rude and condescending tone. Then at the end of the class when I asked her about the springs, she gave me a quick smart-ass answer and then quickly left to talk to the regular members about something unrelated to the class. They have a new member special — 10 classes for $250 which is still quite expensive. I wanted to give myself a week before deciding and unfortunately I feel the studio and the instructors are not worth the money. I could have gotten used to the audio, but if the customer service is lacking then it’s a deal breaker for me.
Marcy S. rated 4 stars on 7/6/2016
To be honest, the workout and the instructors, I would rate at a 5 or even a 6. Anyone who knows me, knows I’ve been obnoxiously talking about how great solidcore is since I started going in April. Every time I go, I can count on a terrific workout and in 50 minutes I walk out feeling like I’ve worked every muscle and am ready to conquer the day. But there are a few things that I think really need to change for me to continue to spread the solidcore love…The instructors need to be paid better. I looked into becoming an instructor, because I have a fitness background and have been loving solidcore, but saw that instructors are only paid between $30-$50/class. FYI, this is the going rate for a group exercise instructor with Washington Sports Clubs, where there are 15-30 people taking a FREE class. Customers pay a PREMIUM of $27-$37/class and, as Anne (the owner) told me because it’s like personal training. Well, a fair rate to pay instructors is $10/per person/per class: meaning if all 11 machines are full, that instructor should be making $110 dollars. THAT is the going rate for small group training and that is fair.My other feedback is that the classes are SO expensive. SO expensive. And this goes in hand with how much instructors are paid too. I have actually given up my monthly yoga membership (tranquil space) and my monthly massage membership (massage envy) to be able to afford these classes, but I am not sure it’s sustainable. Why not make them a little more affordable or at the very least have an incentive, for if you go X number of times (say 10), you get a 10% discount off your next package. And lastly, packages should not have a 1-2 month expiration. I’ve never really heard of that. It doesn’t really effect me because I can only afford to buy the 5 class packages and I go through those easily in a month, but they should be good for a minimum of 6 months, the short expiration makes no sense to me.Sorry to rant – I truly do love solidcore. I would love to continue going and enjoying classes, but would really love to see some of these things change too…if I am going to pay $35 for a class and there are 10 other people in the class (even on the low end the class is generating $300 in revenue), and my instructor is phenomenal at motivating and assisting, it really sickens me to know they are getting paid as little as $30-$50/class.
Maria B. rated 2 stars on 5/22/2018
I have gone to 5 Solidcore classes so far. This is what I have found:1) The calling: There are 10 spots in the class, and it is a small room. However, the music is blaring, and the instructors put on a microphone and compete with the music. So they are already muffled. What makes it comically worse is that they speak like auctioneers at a sale–unbelievably fast and with this bizarre inflection. What accent are they trying to mimic? With all of these factors, I might be able to pick out one of out every four words that are being said. So I cannot follow the calling, and have no idea what is going on unless I look around the classroom. And even then, it can be difficult to pick up.2) The instructors: They seem nice, and are friendly enough. I get the impression they are more concerned with the cadence of the auctioneer-type calling than ensuring correct form is used. I haven’t seen a lot of, if any, hands-on correction of form–corrections get called. But if one cannot understand the instructor, how effective is the correction? I had another situation where a handle was very loose, and didn’t get corrected until the instructor stopped pacing the room (some just walk in circles) and realized I was leaning on an unstable handle. This doesn’t give much assurance that they are paying attention or focused on the right things during class, namely safety and form. When going quickly from one exercise to another, shouldn’t that be paramount?3) The workout: as I understand it, the movements are meant to be slow but the transitions are quick. The workouts themselves seem fine, although at each one there is a lot of focus on obliques at the expense of the rest of the abdominal muscles. But what do I know–I barely pick up on what’s going on in class. 4) Parking: Get there early…parking can be scarce. Bottom line…it is an expensive class for what one gets. Some have cited similar concerns in other reviews, and the response is that they should go to intro classes. The intro classes have an instructor who calls more slowly and clearly, assists actively with form, and focuses on safety. But why is this only provided at the intro classes (which there is only one offered per week at this location)? Shouldn’t safety/good form/clarity be provided for each class?
Jamey B. rated 4 stars on 10/30/2018
I’ve tried about every version of Pilates, barre, and reformer classes and this is the most intense workout I’ve ever done. I’ve had three different instructors and all have been great at working the room, correcting postures, and giving direction. I’m attending more beginner classes than regular to continue to focus on form and still get a tremendous if slightly shorter workout. One star taken off because the acoustics are DREADFUL. Maybe I’m just too old but my ears just don’t pick out many of the instructions and I’m still too new to know what everything is called.

I go to [solidcore] in Ballston about 5-6 times per week. It is one of the highlights of my day and I don’t know any better way to get the morning started with a 5:30am [solidcore] class. I leave every class feeling amazing and empowered by the awesome instructors, workout, music, and community. The location is clean and really beautiful – a bit different from other locations because it has a lot of natural lighting and is very spacious. Even though I go multiple days in a row, I’ve never felt bored during a workout. The instructors are very intentional about switching it up and every instructor has their own unique style. That’s what I love about it. It’s so hard to plateau here (and trust me, I plateau very easily for other workouts). The only minor suggestions I have are: 1) Make sure all the equipment is up to date – I’ve noticed some machines with handlebars that can’t tighten all the way and remain loose during elevated exercises. Also some of the rubber on the springs are falling off.2) Add more rap and hip-hop music please! Mere C. had a great playlist the other day and it was one of my favorite classes. If you haven’t tried [solidcore], I cannot recommend it enough. It is my favorite workout by far. As someone who tore their ACL a while back, I needed a challenging, low-impact exercise that was fun and engaging – and [solidcore] is just that and more.
Jello C. rated 5 stars on 1/9/2018
Solidcore is by far the hardest workout I’ve ever done. And I’ve done a lot of different workouts. The first time I did Solidcore (in Cathedral Heights), I literally took a day off from work the next day because I couldn’t move without like moaning (laughing was the wooooorrrsstt). So, I have a love/hate relationship with Solidcore. I’m definitely trembling like crazy and my body HATES me during class, but then I feel like I’m getting so much stronger the more classes I attend. the instructors are relentless (in a good way) and not only empower you but push you to give your all. They talk you through every second and make you push yourself to complete exhaustion. The Ballston studio itself is super clean and the instructors are always super friendly and hang around to chat before and afterwards. The only slight drawback is the pricing. It’s $37 per class during busy times, so I always try to go during off peak ($27) to save that money!

I’ve been training at The Pilates Loft for a year now. Just completed 100 hrs (if you know, you know). The instructors and the equipment in this facility will turn your life around. After Covid, I just couldn’t get back to the gym routine (arm day, leg day, etc.). I started looking for structured training that would be challenging and fun. I hit the jackpot with Pilates Loft. I work with Maria as my primary instructor (private) but she encouraged me to branch out and attend some classes. It has been nothing but amazing working with these professionals. I take mat/tower classes with Stasia and reformer class with Tara. Every class is a challenge and every class makes me want more.Thank you Pilates Loft for providing this professional level studio.

As a hairstylist I thoroughly enjoybthe full body Workouts I get with Pilates loft. I started with 1 a week sessions & now I’m up to 2 to 3 times a week with one hour private trainings with my two different trainers Alyssa and Tamar. I have done CrossFit, Cross training, boot camps, bodybuilding, yoga (meh) as you can see I have done all! I have found that Pilates has the best benefit for me thus far especially as a 48 your old hard-working woman with a mild case of scoliosis!Class are ok if you want that setting. Personally I prefer 1 on 1 attention it’s totally worth the investment!!!

Looking for top classical pilates training the way Joe taught it … this is the place.Very safe Covid practices ,spotlessly clean ,masks full time, safe distance , personal bins for your belongings. This place has top trained teachers , a studio full of the best equipment plus easy booking for virtual or in studio classes. After being a classic studio owner for 15 years this place is a true find and honestly a gift to the community. The owner puts safety, quality teaching and cleanliness above all else and her care for the details shows.

As we return to “regular” activities, I want to sing the praises of Pilates Loft. I’ve taken Pilates for 20 years and this is BY FAR the BEST. STUDIO. EVER. The teachers are well qualified–they go through 600+ hrs of training under the Joseph Pilates methods. ( I LOVE Kate L, Kelly, Alyssa & Kate D), You are getting REAL PILATES not the gym or unqualified studio version. There are NEVER more than 6 people in each class guaranteeing that you get some private attention and corrections. FAST admin services–responses to emails and texts within hours, never more than 24 hrs. AND although they have a 24 cancelation policy, they waived the cancelation fee when I was sick. They practice what they preach–wellness, health, no stress. I’ve been coming to this studio (both locations in VA Square & Columbia Pike) for 5 years LOVE! Bonus they are NOT expensive for the quality of service, classes and training. PLEASE NOTE: I am not monetarily involved or a relative of anyone at Pilates Loft.

This review is written after taking 3 classes. My lower back had been bothering me and I wanted to find an exercise routine that would help strengthen my core. After reading the Yelp reviews I decided to give Pilates a try at Pilates Loft. I have really enjoyed the classes, Alia the owner is an outstanding instructor, and the facility is bright and clean. Pilates is much tougher than I thought. It’s not a cardio workout. Rather it works to engage different muscle groups. After each session I feel like I’ve had a great stretch, have better posture, and feel like I’m taller. My back feels much better and I look forward to attending more sessions.

The place is amazing! I have been doing pilates for few months at the Arlington Pilates Loft. They are always clean and all their instructors are very professional yet friendly. I didn’t realize how life changing pilates can be! I felt and saw a difference in the first weeks I started. I noticed feeling stronger and more flexible! I also noticed that it helped me build my self-confidence as my body started to become more lean and balanced. The stretching and the focus on breathing component has also helped me reduce stress and be more focused. The Pilates Loft has been instrumental in my over all goal to stay active and in shape!

I was suffering from sciatica caused by spinal stenosis and knew that another spinal fusion was in my future. My physical therapist recommended pilates on the machine for me. I had taken a mat pilates class after an earlier surgery and hated it. I took about a dozen classes at P-L while waiting for my surgery to be as fit as possible going into it. That helped speed my recovery. My PT post-operative said after 8 weeks that she cut me back to one session a week and that I needed to go back and build my core. I was happy to hear that and just recently resumed. I love the studio!. The teachers are all super friendly and patient; the facility is spotless and airy with large windows. It is amazing how in a session the teachers can work every muscle including some I didn’t know I had. I hesitate to mention my teachers’ names for fear it would be impossible to get appointment, but they all seem good.

I had done Pilates at a local health club many times but I wanted to try a more “pure” form. That was more than six months ago. I have found Pilates Loft is the best studio in the DMV that follows the classic methods of Joseph Pilates and the results are astounding. Joseph Pilates stated, “In 10 sessions you will feel a difference; in 20 sessions you will see a difference and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.” This is absolutely true, mostly because Pilates at the Loft is correct and classical. Just because it so strictly follows that philosophy doesn’t mean that this is a boring place or that the instructors are self-absorbed and arrogant! Far from that. The instructors are extremely attentive to understanding the individual student’s needs, medical history, and goals, and can realistically steer that student to success. This is not a place to go if you want to participate in coffee klatches; come to Pilates Loft if you want to change your body and mind in a positive way with very good instructors in a beautiful and extremely clean studio.

Came here on a whim during my 2 week Classpass trial because it was convenient to walk from Ballston. So glad that I did because I absolutely loved the Level 1 group class! I had only tried a pilates reformer class once previously and Alia was very helpful in getting me acclimated to the mat and tower. The group class is only up to 5 people max, so there is a lot of personal attention. I appreciated her correcting my form repeatedly and pushing me to my limit. I’m usually more drawn to cardio classes because sweating makes me feel like I’m working hard, but this class was no joke. I only wish the studio had more classes available through Classpass! Definitely worth a try if you are interested in learning classical pilates and getting a great workout!

Since moving to Arlington from DC a year ago, I’ve been searching for a workout studio that meshes well with my fitness goals, schedule, and new locale. While I’ve found some great studios in the area, none have fit the bill quite like The Pilates Loft. Even though it’s only been open for a couple of weeks, I was able to immediately tell that the owner/lead instructor, Alia, is passionate about Pilates and her studio, and made me feel right at home during my first visit. The Pilates Loft offers classical-style Pilates in varying levels depending on your experience with Pilates. Regardless of your experience, Alia focuses on your form throughout class to ensure you get the best workout – even the most experienced students can learn and improve under her guidance. The studio itself is beautiful. It’s very clean and bright with fresh new Pilates equipment throughout the space. You’ll find the classical equipment as well as Pilates Reformers, along with equipment that’s used in her “Mix It Up” class (an interval-style workout). There’s cubbies for your belongings, water fountains, and bathrooms as well.I recommend The Pilates Loft for students of all levels – this studio certainly focuses on building your strength and fitness through safe and proper application of the Pilates method. If you choose to go, be ready for a tough yet fulfilling workout!

I was recommending a PT to my friend the other day, and I realized I never reviewed the facility where I went post ACL reconstruction. If you’re looking for some good physical therapists, Carrie and Kevin are great! The facility is convenient to the Ballston metro and is much bigger than the Novacare on 19th street. There’s validated garage parking, and they have a massage therapist on site as well. They fixed me up and I’m as good as new, so check them out if you are broken and in need of some PT!

So I’m the typical workaholic! 8 hours on the computer, 8 more hours at home on the computer is it any wonder I have a right shoulder impingement and inflammation. I looked around for a good PT spot, landed on Select, (ARMY NAVY DRIVE LOCATION) as they are in my network. They have renewed my faith in physical therapy. I’ve had therapy before that has left me skeptical and still in pain. Peter and Carolyn by far are the best PT gurus I’ve encountered. Not only are they knowledgeable and great therapists but they are also so friendly and kind and keep me laughing. my shoulder feels SOOO much better. I can see so much improvement! this is my PT spot for life! 🙂

Worst place ever, from the parking to staff. They will talk down to you and try to double book you every time. Stay away and go elsewhere.

The staff are amazingly warm and professional here (especially Rosie), garage parking is validated while construction of the high rise across the street is underway, and Richard Pine is the best physical therapist EVER!! He is currently helping me rehab after neck surgery for a blown disc, & I’m getting stronger everyday, thanks to his vast knowledge & positive attitude. He was recommended to me by my next door neighbors, & I will gladly pay that recommendation forward!

Men, pilates is not just for women. Though, I would suggest this studio change their logo to something a bit more gender neutral to bring in more dudes. My wife and I tried a private lesson with Tara on the equipment, and all I can say is do NOT watch stand up comedy after going here, cuz your abs will feel it. As a beginner, I appreciated that she explained all the exercises and made adjustments to the equipment (or my posture) to make sure I was getting the full workout and not risking injury. She often told me to look at my abs (to get the right posture). I can’t see them yet, but with enough sessions, I might start to! We’ll definitely be back.

DO NOT go here. Much better choices in Arlington. I went here for 6 yrs & spent $30k. I loved my private trainer (she left). The staff was awful. Many students & instructors have migrated to Pilates Loft. I go there now & the way U’m treated at Pilates Loft compared to the way I was treated at Studio Body Logic is like night & day also Pilates Loft has max of 6 per class not 20 & the classes are LESS expensive at Pilates Loft.
Sheri S. rated 1 stars on 12/9/2020
PLEASE don’t take Pilates here. After taking Pilates here for 6 yrs and spending $30K on private classes, I figured the way they treated me (and everyone else) was typical–overcharging, not returning calls, no breaks for getting sick. When my instructor at Studio Body Logic left, I tried a few new studios and landed at –Pilates Loft. I cannot believe how much better my new studio is! They have stringent COVID standards. They treat each customer like they were their only customer. By my 2nd visit, the owner knew my name. When I was sick at the last minute and couldn’t attend class, the Pilates Loft owner didn’t charge me. If I can’t finish a package of classes in the time frame, they extend it. Being at Pilates Loft is like a breath of fresh air. I never knew a Pilates studio could be so considerate, kind and nice. BONUS: it’s around the corner from SBL. There are so many other great Pilates options in Arlington–Pilates Loft is one. Burt PLEASE don’t go to SBL.

Review for the Barre Body class:I visited this studio using my ClassPass and had a really great experience. The Barre studio is nice, well equipped, clean and large enough to move without feeling crowded. The instructor was very energetic and kept the class moving and motivated. She corrected movements and gave tips along the way. The class was challenging but not so tough to be frustrated by it. It would also be good for beginners as the instructor demonstrated and spelled out everything. The Studio is located INSIDE Randolph Towers – you need to use the main building entrance off 9th Street, turn right, then left, keep going left, and then you’ll find SBL.SBL also offers other types of Pilates but I have only done the Barre Body class.
Amanda N. rated 4 stars on 2/15/2017
I’ve been going to the Barre Body class a few times a week for the past few months, and I really enjoy it. Each teacher has her own style – Sarah’s classes have a great flow (and seem to speed by) and Samantha’s classes are a mix of yoga and barre which I like. The studio is tricky to find at first- you have to go into Randolph Tower and turn right. The other people I’ve talked to in class have been going to this studio for a while (sometimes several years) so you know it’s good 🙂
Maggie M. rated 4 stars on 3/15/2015
I’ve only been here for barre classes, although it looks like they have some serious pilates equipment. If you blink you can miss this place since it’s in the first floor of a highrise apartment building lost in a sea of highrises in Ballston. But once you’re in the studio you forget all that. This is a serious studio with great classes. They teach the barre body classes. Classes follow a pretty typical barre format–warm up, arms with leg warmup on the mat, barre series including legs and glutes on the barre, ab series on the mat. Unlike some other places, the classes are planned with musicality in mind and teach some traditional ballet moves, which are fun elements for me. Tons of fun!
L B. rated 4 stars on 6/21/2008
I signed up for a Pilates class that starts here in a few weeks. I found out that Studio Body Logic was hosting a free pilates class at Lululemon Athletica in Clarendon so I went on Thursday night. The class was led by SBL’s owner, Karen Garcia, a one-time professional ballet dancer who discovered Pilates after a career-ending injury. She shared that she was a second-generation Pilates instructor as her teacher was a student of Joseph Pilates.I did Pilates for two years, stopping last year when my work schedule began to interfere with a consistent Pilates class schedule. This intro class was a great way to ease me back in. Karen gave a brief history of Pilates and started the class by going through the beginner exercises and movements like The Hundred, The Roll-Up, Rolling Like a Ball, Single-Leg and Double-Leg Stretches, Leg Circles, The Corkscrew, The Saw, Teaser Prep, etc. It was pretty amazing that she could lead a class with a dozen people (half of which have never done Pilates) without demonstrating the exercises herself, she was able to convey the movements and flow with words alone. She and an assistant did walk around the room to correct our form which is a major plus because the slightest correction or modification can make all the difference in the benefit to your body. We finished the class by doing an up tempo series of the exercises that we just learned. I was so excited at the end of the class – I realized how much I missed Pilates. By no means was I doing the exercises as effortlessly as I was a year ago but it felt great to begin the process of strengthening my abs again. It felt so good to work core muscles that have been dormant.I’ll write a follow up review in a few months after I finish my session but if this class was any indication, I’ve found a very good studio. You can register for classes online and the summer sessions start the last week of June/first week of July. Mat classes are $18 each with each session lasting 8 weeks. They have a great make-up policy if you miss a class – you can drop in on any other class that’s in your level at either studio location (the other SBL studio is in Del Ray, Alexandria).

I found this studio via Yelp (thanks, other Yelpers!) and have been attending for about two months now. After getting really, really sick of my overpriced gym that kept taking away my favorite classes & instructors, I needed to find a new pilates studio. This place was rated very highly on Yelp and figured I’d give it a go! I’m now a regular in Ellen’s intermediate class and finding it to be the perfect level of challenging for me. This is not your “fluffy” pilates that you see at some places – we go through the sequence exactly, there’s no music, and I love that we integrate props such as bands, the magic circle, and springs. One thing that I hated about a former pilates studio that I attended was sometimes we wouldn’t get through the entire sequence for one reason or another – never an issue here, we move quickly enough through the exercises that we finish the entire sequence and always have time at the end for arm work, ensuring a total body pilates workout. Like any other standalone studio, it’s not cheap, but I think it is 100% worth it.
Seema G. rated 4 stars on 1/2/2013
I’ve been coming here for about 5 months now. I had only taken a few pilates classes at a couple other gyms and probably more than 3 years ago. So I started out with an intro to apparatus class here since I had heard good things about using the apparatus in pilates. They only have 3-4 people in the class which is nice since the instructors can pay attention to what you are doing. I definitely enjoyed it and the workout was tough. In my previous pilates mat classes at other places, they never really corrected my form or made sure I was doing the exercises correctly. Our apparatus group has continued on with the apparatus and it definitely help you isolate the movements a bit more than with the mat classes.I started taking the mat classes with them also since I had such a good experience with the apparatus class. Each mat class is not that big so the teachers can pay attention to everyone. As others have mentioned they also walk around and correct you which is nice. If you are unable to make a class, you do have the ability to attend another class to make up your missed class. Each instructor is really good and they all have different things they focus on so it sometimes is nice to go to a different person. I did take a barre body class for one of my makeups. I would have to say that was the class I felt the most burn in! It’s almost a mix of aerobics, dance, and pilates. The upfront payment for the mat classes can seem steep but it’s definitely worth every penny. With the apparatus class, after the intro to apparatus class is finished and you want to continue to take a class, you pay for each one you take. The price per class does depend on how many people are in the class.

I went to Pivot for two and half months late last year/early this year after being hit by a car while running and ending up with fibular and tibial fractures and an LCL sprain. My orthopedist had shared that it would be about 6 months to full clearance but I ended up being fully cleared after 3.5 months. I worked with Tate and he really did a great job. In the beginning I was a bit nervous (despite the fact that I’ve been athletic all of my life, I’d never had any knee problems, and was more tentative in the beginning than I ever thought I would be) and he did a great job of getting me past that quickly, and then once I was, he did a great job of helping me make sure I pushed, but not too much (I tend to overdo things sometimes). I tend to want to understand everything that’s going on and so asked a lot of questions which Tate always patiently answered! Additionally, he’s just friendly and easy to get along with.During my time there, I interacted with a lot of the Pivot team in that location (Katie, Maggie, Shayla, Leslie and more) and they were all a joy. They have created a great balance in providing a quality physical therapy experience, while also making it fun and “light”. I hope that I don’t have to go back (for obvious reasons), but if I am ever in need of PT again I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this Pivot location again.

DO NOT GO HERE WITHOUT DISCUSSING PAYMENT CLEARLYI remember my first visit – they took my insurance and it was a 20 dollar copay. Wonderful! Fast forward several months and I got a 900 dollar bill. Each visit cost different amounts and this was never discussed. If I had known different treatments would cost me different amounts of money I would have declined. Each visit was costing me hundreds of dollars without being informed properly.

Jake was my physical therapist. Estimated I would need about 6 weeks of PT, twice a week for Achilles tendinopathy. He explained treatment plan, was very professional, friendly and patient. Gave me a home exercise regimen as well. Within 4 weeks I was feeling less pain and by 5 weeks was pain-free and he encouraged me to do the activities I was avoiding because they had been too painful. I’m discharged and back to playing pickleball 5 days/week. Front Desk staff (Shayla) was very helpful with scheduling and contacting me when openings were available. This was an excellent experience (if you have to go through it).

The PTs were OK, although most days they seemed overtaxed and didn’t give enough 1 to 1. Billing is HORRIFIC!!! I am still fighting a $60 bill that all the sudden appeared 4 months after I stopped going for PT. They are telling me my copay is TWICE what they told me it was before and that they just go from “the EOBs”, so putting it on the insurance, sure that I won’t know how to read that I guess. So, I continue to address this over and over and over and over…… until they stop billing me for amounts I already paid. AWFUL!! Will NEVER use them again!! Such a scam.

I just received my first Tricare explanation of benefits statement and I was horrified by the charges for itemized coded services!! I received little one on one care. Most of the time I was not sure if I were doing the exercises correctly. The bike was never wiped down after use. A pair of glasses was found under the pillow I was using. The equipment was dirty as were chairs. I was passed off to a young gal who started on the wrong leg and I had to raise my voice to “my” therapist. A patient rudely used her cell phone for over 20 minutes chatting on speaker phone to her Granddaughter and I could not concentrate on my exercises. I have never been to a PT place that allowed cell phone usage ANYWHERE. I spoke up and nothing was done so I called the manager but he had called and left me a message. He still did not put up a “NO Cell Phones” sign and people still use their phones. On Thursday, I received little attention from my PT and it was my last appointment scheduled. After my knees were iced, I put on my shoes, gathered my belongings, and walked out. She never said a word. I have no idea if I am to continue or not. So, I called there today to ask about this ridiculous Tricare statement and I was told I had to call Billing. They are closed. So, hopefully they will call me tomorrow. In the meantime, I am posting pictures of some untidiness, dust, dirt, and grime. I doubt the place is regularly vacuumed either. They do have hand sanitizer and bottled water but cleanliness should be a priority, too.

This is my second week getting physical therapy and Silvia is the person that is overseeing my care with the help of Megan, but Megan is leaving soon and will be going to PT school in January. They are both competent and try and give me home exercises, but I would rather come to the office under their supervision and work on them. I’ve been to this place before under a different name and it was for another issue. This time, my left knee has been bothering me so I’ve been told to come here for the next 4-6 weeks for 1-5X a week. I’ve chosen to come 3X a week. My insurance’s co-pay is $30 and thank goodness I have flex spending dollars; otherwise I probably wouldn’t be able to afford it. The massage that I’ve received on my knee did wonders today and the pain in my knee (as I got of the car) went away. I was told that I definitely need to stretch out my IT Band on the side of my legs with a roller. I will go to bootcamp tonight, so we’ll see what happens…I’ll try not to aggravate it and do heavily modified moves. Wish me luck!

Had an appointment for 7 am I was on time. However, they did not open or get there till close to 7:30 am. Had to hear about them complaining about getting there early. If you don’t want to get out of bed to go to work don’t make appointments!!! They get paid quite a bit for this too!!!!

Moscow,PA clinic:Therapists were really good, I can say that because this wasn’t my first time in therapy for injuries. One problem I had though was with the front desk attendant Jessica C.She was very snobbish when I asked her about insurance and acted like she was above me in intelligence about my insurance. I know very well how my insurance works and told her she was over-charging me for my visits although she wrongly claimed that she wasn’t.Well when my therapy was complete, I received a substantial refund check from Pivot’s regional billing office. (After I called them about the matter).Like I said, I thought the therapists were really good, but beware of what you are billed by them and check with your insurance company if you have to deal with Jessica in the Moscow office.

Five stars all the way !!After a shoulder malfunction, and researching therapy centers in Arlington, I settled on Pivot PT ~ and am so glad I did. As a new client, I was assigned to Katie [the clinic director], and worked with [was worked over by!] Megan and Maggie. The entire staff group is dedicated, communicative, knowledgeable, and compassionate. If you are in need of PT, I would recommend Pivot/Virginia Square without hesitation.

If you are looking for the BEST Physical Therapy place – THIS IS THE PLACE! I came to Pivot with a broken 5th metatarsal, after two months in a cast and two recommendations from 2 different foot specialists to do surgery. When I met Conrad Carter, it was my “life belt” moment. Conrad listens to my story with care, emphatic, and professionalism. From that moment, we worked very hard, and after four months, my broken foot healed 100%!!!! No need for surgery! Conrad and his team (each of them) made it happen with their unique listening process, creating each session according to my experience and condition. They are all very professional. It felt like a family that wants to see you healthy. They sent me home with homework exercises and made sure I understand them with videos to remind me how to do them while at home. I am grateful and happy I choose Pivot. I highly Recommenced this place!

Lisa is a master PT with a vast knowledge, incredibly skilled hands, and a fantastic intuitionShe is also very kind, and makes you feel right at homeI have struggled with chronic back pain for most of my life, and working with Lisa has been one of the most instrumental ways in which I’ve kept my pain at bay. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

Lisa is a brilliant and talented physical therapist and a healer in the highest sense of the word. I was in excruciating pain due to a large hernia in my L5-S1 disc and Lisa has been invaluable in my recovery. I feel instantly better after I visit her and the exercises she has given me have also been very effective. Lisa also has a profound depth of knowledge in her subject area and she has educated me about the body and helped me care for my spine better. I recommend her 100% to anyone who is looking for excellent care.

Lisa is fantastic. Super knowledgeable about all aspects of physical therapy (she has her DPT). Helped with back, neck and shoulder issues. I had two other surgeries and she facilitated my healing from both. She is comfortable with complementary therapies. Kind, supportive and compassionate care.

I went to Lisa through a referral from another physical therapist who was traveling (it’s a tight-knit community!), and I’m so glad I did! I was experiencing extreme pain when I tried to take a full breath and could not lay down. I called her and she saw me within a few hours. After two visits to her practice, I was almost 80% better, and after a few more successful visits, I can now say I am fully recovered. Lisa is gentle, communicative, and thorough. I do not think you can get this level of individualized care anywhere else in the Arlington area. I always left feeling better. Thank you for your excellent work, Lisa!!

I have a frozen shoulder and tried to get help through a chiropractor. After 4 months and little progress, I went to Lisa for physical therapy. Thank goodness! She understands frozen shoulders and what works best to get it working again. She’s thorough and kind. She wants to help! I am thrilled that I found her. And my shoulder is finally showing progress and healing. She knows exactly what to do. She’s awesome! Highly recommended.

I’ve had a wonderful experience with Lisa and highly recommend her. She takes a holistic approach to healing which helped me with the initial healing phase & future prevention of a hip injury. I really love that you receive individual attention from her & aren’t in a big commercial PT studio. Thank you Lisa!!

Healing Works has worked for me, through various injuries and post surgeries. Unlike other PT places, you will get one one one time, in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere (as opposed to assembly-line PT you will get in other places.) Can’t recommend highly enough!

Dr. Lisa Shimberg of Healing Works is a wonderful PT. She has helped me through soft tissue work on my back and hips. Most importantly, she worked diligently to help me regain range of motion after a second knee replacement that left me unable to fully straighten out and bend my knee. She is flexible with her time and approach. Unlike most PT practices that often resemble assembly lines, Lisa provides personal, individualized service. I can’t recommend her enough!
Susan D. rated 5 stars on 9/6/2017
Again, 5 Stars for Lisa Shimberg at Healing Works Physical Therapy! She is extremely knowledgeable and caring, and customizes her treatment, not only to me as an individual, but, on a week-to-week basis, addresses my most important issues. Don’t know where I’d be without her expertise!
Barry E. rated 5 stars on 9/9/2017
I have had excellent results from the treatments I have received by Dr. Shimberg. I have seen her over the years for different reasons. The first time was quite a surprise as I was used to large manipulations, but Dr. Shimberg’s approach was targeted, gentle, and consistent. The issue is fully resolved. All that and the one-on-one dedicated treatment in a very welcoming setting also gives this my highest recommendation.

Raquel is AMAZING!!!!! OMG She intuitively seems to know the exact thing to do to get me back to 100%! I’m so anxious to be able to run and bike again! It’s amazing the progress I’m seeing and feeling.I think she’s by far one of the best at this practice! I LOVE her attitude!

Very grateful for the care received by Raquel for my tennis elbow issue. She was thoughtful, persistent, and kind and I am really happy with the progress. The clinic itself has a great setup, and is clean, modern, and takes into consideration COVID-19 safety practices. Front-of-house staff is so nice! Thank you so much.

I am updating again for billing only. Now 6 months into my Innova billing saga and no end in sight. Multiple phone calls to their useless billing department have not come close to resolving this issues. I once had a woman who claimed she was going to fix it only for her to never call me back. A call over a month later reached a different person who had no clue other than part of my bill has been put on hold. He couldn’t even track down the name of the woman I talked to. I now received another letter saying the full amount not adjusted for my insurance is due or will be turned over to collections. None of this is ok.

My therapist Raquel Vargas did not do things the doctor had prescribed, like pay close attention to how I was running and making sure I had the right shoes, needed orthotics, etc. I wasted time and money on what should have been a very simple fix. I finally went to a different doctor after figuring out what the issue was, got orthotics and the correct shoes and now I can run pain-free. Do not see Raquel if you go to this practice!

I went there after a shoulder fracture with very limited motion and a lot of pain. I saw Arsalan Khan and Cheryl Krause, who were amazing!!! They showed me exercises to do and emailed me info on a great app that they sent personalized home exercises to me through with videos and directions. After just a couple sessions I was feeling so much better. I would definitely recommend them and go back, if needed.

I was very glad that I found a Physical Therapy that is convenient (to my work location) and had appointments straight away. A few things that really bothered:1. Ethics – I doubt the ethics. Charges and the services are totally insane. Even the Primary Care Physician is reasonable. Physical Therapists here, I doubt what and how they base the rates on. Totally ridiculous. I was charged $316 for less than an hour of therapy on Apr 6 which included a warm up on the machine and unattended and no use heating pad therapy on the wrong spot. Where are the ethics and how does it make sense?2. Requested to speak to a manager and was told that the receptionist was the manager and denied me to speak to any person who can justify the charges. The same manager/receptionist told me that the therapy would cost me around $190 per session. 3. If this is how the providers charge, the insurance would obviously sky-rocket. I am a professional and I would not discourage people from going here but hoping these professionals would behave and deal professionally as well.Good luck to all those who go here.
