I was in a car accident and had really bad back pain. Astoria Physical Therapy helped me a ton. I’d been to other places and was told they couldn’t help me. With the stretching and exercises I learned, I now enjoy the day without pain. I do have to remember to do the exercises though. Many years ago Marland at Astoria Physical Therapy also helped me after knee surgery. The doctor who did the surgery had told me that I’d probably never be able to do the gymnastics that I loved again. Thankfully with lots of hard work with physical therapy I was able to get on the gymnastics team a year or so later which was awesome! I highly recommend this business!

I dont always rant, but I am seething right now. So many of my friends know that I recently had surgery on my hand. As such, I have been in the need for physical therapy to help things along. I have been going to Astoria Physical Therapy and things had been fine…Until recently. So first of all, let me say that my problem was not with the physical therapists themselves but with the front office staff. The owner (the primary physical therapist) and the secondary physical therapist were awesome. I was working with the secondary therapist, Savita, until she was let go due to lack of enough clients to sustain two therapists (or so the story goes). I had a chance to work with the owner (primary physical therapist) for a few sessions. Lovely gentleman, great conversation, and good work. Really everything goes downhill when I had to deal with the front office. In particular the business/insurance handler, Lady. So unprofessional. She comes off as syrupy-sweet, but she is the most cold-hearted and vindictive person I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to meet. She is passive aggressive and the minute you try and stand your ground she does what she can to sabotage you and make you look like you’re the bad person. So, I had to miss a few sessions due to illness. I called in and cancelled those appointments. Then today I was called to find if I was still coming in tomorrow or if I wanted to “close my case”. I explained how I had been sick, but no matter how many times I explained it I was made to feel as if I was lying! I kept being asked if I wanted to keep my case open with them, when I had already very clearly stated that I would be there. I felt as if I was being harassed, and was even told, “well we saw you Costco”. I mean come on, I was sick but when you have a family and need to go to the store you need to go to the store. I even asked if they wanted me to have my supervisor call them to confirm that I was ill because of the way I was being spoken to. I had enough and was getting defensive because of the way I was being talked to. I told her, I will be in tomorrrow and mentioned that I would speak to the owner at my next session. I hung up…the next thing I know I am being called back and told that I am being discharged!! Where is the customer service and quality of care? I am disappointed that the owner did not speak with me directly to find out what was going on, but when you have a manipulating office staff why bother? Who even knows the tale she weaved to him.If you can, stay away. It is unfortunate that a good physical therapist is avoided because of office staff who do not know how to appropriately interact with people. If not for this person I would have continued seeing the owner (primary physical therapist). Instead, I will take my business and my health and put it into someone who really cares hands. If you all know me, then you know that I am very considerate and a professional. Come on, I am on the phone and dealing with agencies, hospitals, etc. all the time, it is part of my job. I have never had something like this happen to me. Stay away from Astoria Physical Therapy, this woman is toxic and I am just so livid that I, or really anyone for that matter, could be treated so badly. On second thought, I dislike the owner now too, how could he not care about a patient’s needs or even bother checking in with me. Grrrrrr. Now I am stuck trying to find another physical therapist. In the meanwhile I will deal with it. Ugh!

This place is horrible! Ended up with Blair and it was a crazy experience. She was distracted and strange – she kept running out of the room going to the copier and to answer her cell phone – very weird bedside manner – THEN came the worst experience ever! I got my statement that showed a negative balance (with a “true balance” written in red on the bottom) – didn’t pay it because of the negative balance (from double payment from my insurance). Got a call from the rudest person (Michelle) saying that my account would be going to collections if I didn’t pay. I told her the statement said I had a negative balance. She said that she had written in my “True” balance and if I didn’t understand that then I should have called. I told her that I disagreed – that I shouldn’t have to pay anything until they settled up with my insurance company (and when they sent the double payment back to them!) she said that unless I paid that she was sending my account to collections. I told her that I would pay the amount of the “True Balance” – then she said that I would have to pay an additional $25.00 because the had to rebill me! I told her that I had not received any other statement – and she said that she had just mailed it that day (so of course I did not have it). She said she could not remove the additional $25.00 rebill fee. Obviously I was getting no where with her – so I asked to speak to her manager. She was not in but called back. She repeated everything that Michelle had told me. Nothing she could do and if I didn’t pay my account would be going to collections. I will NEVER recommend or EVER go back to this place. What a joke!!!!!

I can’t recommend Dan’s talents enough. He has helped me with posture and muscle tension issues that no one prior has been able to impact including Chiropractic, LMT and PT. Dan has the patience and ability to unwind years of compensation that our bodies have built up in response to injury, structural challenges and stress. He is the first LMT that I have worked with who actually stays with a muscle in stress and moves slowly and patiently at its pace until it fully releases. In addition, he is great with suggestions for movement and exercise that will assist with your recovery. If you are looking for a feel good massage with warm rocks and aroma therapy, go to a spa. If you want to get help with pain and movement, or to improve your posture and performance…make an appointment immediately with Dan.

New and old books (as well as fun extras like tarot cards, puzzles, and more!) We also serve Panache brand coffee and espresso.
History: Owner Charlie Holboke has been selling books since 1978! He originally operated in Seaside under the name Turnaround Books from 1978-1999, but Godfather’s has been in Astoria since 1993, having recently celebrated it’s 20th birthday in 2013! Fun fact: Charlie was the very first to serve espresso in Seaside in 1986! Visit us today in Astoria, Oregon and browse our eclectic selection of new and old books, tarot cards, incense, unique gifts and trinkets! If the mood suits you, sit down, order a fresh brewed house coffee or espresso and enjoy our quirky atmosphere and wi-fi–or maybe even a bit of conversation with the locals! We are very selective about the used books we buy, so please call ahead or e-mail to check with us before bringing a big box in!! Generally we are only interested in rare books, quality modern 1st editions, vintage mystery paperbacks, and westerns (ESP Louis L’Amour) in good condition.

A novelty Bookstore. I live in town an come by sometimes. I get a beverage and usually buy a book or puzzle or something for my daughter. It does try and maybe have a bit of an edgy feel, I guess. Unlike some comments it’s not some adults only store. They are nice and revert respectfully to typical niceties. I wouldn’t come in and try and be a Karen though. It’s a small bookstore on a main street next to other spooky themed shops. I guess I’ve just felt compelled to comment quietly on what must be selling, disappointing to my hopes for a future society of critical thinkers. The non-fiction section on Science only had one unfilled shelf with not one book by a respectable contemporary scientist. Out of the two or three, somewhat newer ideas, the book standing out was titled something like “the Magick of Physics” probably worth a C+ or B- on the writing and a D on the science. So too many superstitious, political books, lifestyle and older celebrity biographies: the sections seemingly most highlighted were astrology, Wicca with the usual incense and the like. At least they didn’t fill the other selves with all religious philosophies and fantasies. I’m likely in the minority opinion on what they should stock, and I can always find what I’m looking for at the library anyway, so go to Godfathers. Buy a book that’ll make your catholic aunt piss herself when she sees it on your coffee table. It’ll be funny. Just please don’t buy INTO it, it’s just as stupid. They do have more and I’ll be back to have a beverage and look at what people are reading and maybe buy a book.

Great local bookstore with new and used options. I found a somewhat rare book I had never seen before, and it was a great price. Great vibe and fun stop whilst in Astoria!

Every time I come to Astoria I’m in shock that this place is still open. I guess there are enough unsuspecting tourists who don’t stay long enough to realize that the owners are really horrible, rude people who treat others deplorably and who carry and condone some pretty disgusting books. My first visit to this place ages ago consisted of me sitting down to order a coffee, then being immediately told that I could not sit because the seats were for locals. Wow. To my credit, I was willing to ignore that and started browsing books anyway- Only to stumble onto some books with pretty horrible ideology about women, which I won’t repeat here. Unfortunately this tracks with some of the other reviews here and I would strongly encourage you to support another bookstore (there are some other great ones close by!) …I have a few friends who are locals who have told me they’re ashamed of this bookstore and the people who run it, and to please know that it’s not indicative of the town. Please, go elsewhere!

I am in town for the weekend and it’s sunny and nice and I don’t drive so I walked and wandered into this book store. I love books. I purchased two and a bottle of water. The person working was super friendly. Great book store with tons of books and games too. I loved the scrabble pieces they used for sections.

Cool place!! I love indie book stores, so wherever I travel, I always make a point of popping in to check them out and support them by buying a book!

Had very questionable books in the kids section. The lady at the desk was really loud and talked about a lot of controversial things. Probably not best to take young kids in there.
Victoria S. rated 5 stars on 10/27/2021
Really cool bookstore! Never been to a smaller bookstore that serves coffee. It’s like Barnes and Noble with the Starbucks but small and cozy instead of that large business feeling. I zoned out and browsed books for houuuurssss. It was so nice. I walked out of there feeling like a different person. Will definitely be back!

Holly T. rated 1 stars on 5/14/2017
Awful experience! We came in here with our two kids. I didn’t think I came into an adult bookstore, but apparently, the men behind the counter thought otherwise. They were very openly and loudly talking about women, using awful terminology (too inappropriate for yelp), they’ve met and their body parts. It wasn’t a pleasant conversation nor was it one any employee should ever have in a public setting with customers (especially children) around.

Had a small fracture of knee and couldn’t do leg raises or get glutes to respond. Marland Armstrong gave me a series of exercises over a few sessions, which I diligently followed. They worked! Very pleased with results and will keep doing the exercises since they are overall good for wellness. Marland’s years of experience are positively beneficial when recommendations are followed.

History: Evps started out when I was born with the gift to see, talk to, feel, and communicate with loved ones and those who are no longer with us. At 1st I will admit it scared me at age 11 as I grew older I found that what they wanted was for me to validate the existence and to pass onto others how we can help them get their peace and quiet. Sometimes they have messages for others, sometimes they are bothersome and need to be removed from the location.

This review is long over due. I’ve been coming to see Angel for sometime now. I started with acupuncture and was very satisfied. I’ve seen many different acupuncturist before. I even worked for one in Los Angeles. But she offers something unique and wonderful, she’s more than just an acupuncturist. She’s a “guardian” Angel. She guides you to achieve your optimum health physically, mentally and spiritually. It truly was a blessing to have found her on Yelp. I’ve been referring my family, friends and coworkers to her. You won’t regret it, go schedule your appointment now. She’s very busy, I highly recommend you book your appointment in advance. She’s only in her SF office on Tuesday and Thursday. Speaking of which, I have to book mine. 😉 See yah!I can’t wait to see her again.

I recommend Angel to all my clients who want to go deeper on the energetic level and clear what doesn’t serve them. She is direct, and although you may not always like what she has to say as it can be painful to hear, she’s always ON POINT, genuine, and caring. She holds a nurturing space for you to remove blockages for more clarity and ease in life. I highly recommend her for regular care and especially if you are going through major transitions, have anxiety, or just want to level up your life!

If you’re looking for acupuncture, guidance, a time for an awakening of the soul, your search has ended here with HVAC. Angel Clark is a true Angel. An immediate sense of calm washes over you when you walk through the doors and are greeted by such an amazing, gifted healer.

I’ve been really impressed with Angel’s professionalism, superb care and genuine warmth. I began seeing Angel to help with fertility concerns in my late 30’s. I conceived a perfect healthy baby and had an absolutely easy and bliss-filled pregnancy which I credit to regular acupuncture sessions with Angel. Her amazing energy work has also helped me to stay grounded and centered during some major life transitions. I highly recommend HVAC as a sanctuary space for wellness and healing!

It’s difficult to put into words how powerful the personal shifts are that take place when working with Angel in her energy healing sessions. Initially I scheduled these sessions very sporadically. While these sessions were helpful, I decided to invest in more frequent sessions and went every two weeks. Doing this greatly enhanced the experience and really accelerated the results. This is very personal work, and individuals will have their own unique experiences. My experience in doing this work has been very beneficial and I highly recommend Angel. It’s ironic that her name is Angel because in many ways she is one.

Amazing acupuncture from Dr. Angel Clark. With an intuitive gift, I left the center feeling physically and mentally awakened. Especially since I’d actually doze off during treatment because I was so relaxed and confident in her. She is more than a doctor, she’s a friend with a gift for healing and caring.

Her studio is a welcoming and safe environment to explore your healing needs. She has helped me a lot, so I hope others will find their way to her as well.
